Gigantic ogre-like thing... How to obtain?

Tried to just scan it, said it required a quest or something. So, naturally, what'd I try to do? Beat it down, of course! Got wrecked, couldn't hurt it. Tried to tranq him, nothing. Spawned the Burnard, annihilated it, and all it did was explode...

How do I obtain that big guy?

I think the creatures that show yellow hearts when they're injured (like this thing and the cyclops) are vulnerable to anything that involves fire or explosions: I tried shooting it with a pistol from a safe distance, but it sort of... vanished before I could actually finish it. It's definitely capable of taking a massive amount of damage, and it also regenerates health if you stop attacking it for more than a few seconds.

Also, if I'm not mistaken its weapon of choice appears to be the troll club from earlier builds.

Do I need the weapon when I beat him, or can I simply discover him without giving it to him when he's KO'd? Similar to the skeleton?

This guy takes forever to bring down, so I don't want to waste time taking him down yet if I need the weapon first.

Does he only spawn at night? Seems like he only spawns at night, because I can roam around and never find him during the day, but I can find one or two of him at night.

Unsure if you've obtained it or not, but it's the drumstick that he wants, not a club. I just unlocked him, and I remembered you trying to help, and figured I'd let you know in case you're still trying.

Also, it takes a whopping 250,000 studs to unlock this guy once you've discovered him. He's called "Giant Troll."

keep throwing yourself at it. the yellow hearts mean it heals quickly. i was able to beat the giant down eventually. you might wanna have a drumstick prepared.

Creature.
Costs(I don't know if you saw) 250k to unlock X__x
A single temple should be more than enough to buy him.

Yeah, I figured this out after trying about 40 times. I eventually spammed explosives until he fell.

For those of you who don't have it and are following this:
When you drop the troll, run in to give him your drumstick as fast as you possibly can, he stays down for roughly 5 seconds before getting back up again with full health. He hits for 3 hearts, the regular sword is the best melee weapon I've used on him so far, as it stumbles him every 4 hits. You've just got to be agile and spam the attack button.

Best option is spamming explosives, though. Don't use Burnard, because he kills the troll instead of just stunning him.
