locked chest in dungeon!

i found a dungeon and after some exploring i found a chest with the dungeons treasure. only problem is, it wont open. i searched everywhere for a key. what do i do?!

If the ground isn't flat around the chest, that might be the issue. Otherwise, just approach the front and it should prompt you to press E (on PC anyway). Also, where'd you find this dungeon? All of my created maps so far have had 0/0 listed on the minimap.

no i found the problem. dungeons have TWO big chests. one with the treasure that is locked and one with a gold key to unlock the former.

I think I know the one the OP means, it has a lock on the front of it and when you press the key to open it the character will turn around to cam and shrug as it doesnt know how to, or can't open that chest. I couldn't find the key either and had to leave it.

I've found 2 keys/2 dungeons it both where on 1 floor above key chest, use paint to mark where you came from/dead ends.

I noticed it would be easier just to destroy the whole placr inside out

Once you've found a chest with a key in it, the Night Trader should start offering keys for sale, as well. Just in case you want to go straight for the prize.
