Not coming from, but going into. Light beams are pointing at things for you to investigate:

gold = treasure chest (often extremely deep underground)
white = your ship
dark blue = town / city
light blue (cyan) = merchant
red = dungeon
green = quest
*green that does not reach the ground = there's something up in the clouds
pink = quest completed

use the skeleton to walk underwater , or driver, or use space suit. best 3 for water
Aside from the obvious, any particular reason you're telling me that?

I found a yellow waypoint at some arctic outpost, I tried going back and forth into it, nothing loaded in. And by yellow waypoint, it's NOT a treasure chest, legitimatly on the map, it's a yellow waypoint.

The outpost with the orange buildings and a bunch of white squirrels running around? That quest is currently broken.

Yellow waypoints seem to be Gold Brick quests for me - like saving the fisherman from the shark, etc. - where the character is walking around in that area holding a gold brick

^ Yeah if you look closely at it you'll notice it's the icon of a 2x2 Brick. When it appears you should see an NPC walking around actually carrying it, but sometimes they may put it away while they chase critters, fight, ride, or drive a vehicle.

If the Brick icon vanishes, it mean you got too far away from the NPC, go back the way you came and it should pop up again.

If you see the Brick icon and there's only 1 or 2 people around, neither of whom appear to have the Gold Brick, just follow them around for a bit. They may have been doing something and had put the Brick away. They'll pull it out again and allow you to do the quest.

If you had initially said you saw a yellow circle I'd have told you that you either saw something which no one else has reported having and therefore its purpose is currently unknown to us, OR look closer, it's a brick not a circle.

In areas with a lot of treasure chests, turning the camera's angle so that two or more of the light beams align, will result in some of them appearing more vibrant than others. Depending on the graphics settings some may appear yellow and others gold, but it's only in relation to each other; an illusion.

You should read more than one post, it's a circle, just like a quest, but inside it's yellow rather than green or purple. I'll send you a picture if you're really that stubborn

For someone who keeps accusing other people of not reading, you sure do give off a strong impression that you don't read anything, including your own posts. So I'm just gonna go ahead and call you an idiot and say have fun figuring it out yourself.
