Can a 4 year old handle this game?
My son is interested in this game and he has some experience with Minecraft, will he be able to pick this up easily? It looks like it's pretty simple and family friendly but I wanna be sure before I spend any money.

For this age group I noticed a main issue is comfortably reaching the analog sticks on standard controllers, but if he plays Minecraft I assume you have that matter handled or maybe uses mouse/keyboard.

5 year old here 'plays' LEGO Worlds but not objective driven, he runs around climbing mountains and into caves looking for new biomes, places animals and vehicles in the world and rides them trying new ones, very basic exploration gameplay. Actually looking for things he hasn't discovered yet doesn't keep his attention for long. What he likes most of all is creating characters, something I labeled the "dress-up game", just trying different outfits etc.

That being said, If I gave him a new Save slot with nothing unlocked he wouldn't have all that much to do. He wasn't able to complete the tutorial worlds without guidance by me. But there is local multiplayer so it's easy to play alongside him and guide him through it.

There is an update that is supposed to arrive very soon which may include features to bypass the unlock process but we will have to wait and see, you can also import somebodies 100% save.

You will have to stay up all night marathon-unlocking stuff so he'll have items available to play with. Or get a save file from someone here. Either way I highly advise playing the tutorial yourself so that:
1 - you know what to do when he wants to start trying to build / paint / landscape / etc
2 - so you can either clarify or insist he did NOT hear the Narrator fawning about banging the Cheerleader.

After that point though, with the "tools" and some items unlocked he should be good to go. No one else speaks except in gibberish / Simlish, and enough stuff is unlocked by aimless running around that he'll get quite a few "yay I did it" moments.

Thanks for the replies I'm gonna buy the game soon for sure. It sounds like my son will have no trouble using his MC skills on this game. He just likes exploring and finding stuff but I bet he'll really get into the dress up part, kids love that kind of stuff :steamfacepalm:

My 4.5 yr old plays the same way, just runs around exploring, changing outfits, dropping in characters and riding around in vehicles. so far im at about a dollar an hour and am expecting much more time in. Building custom houses and such is too hard but there is alot of premade houses he can drop in.

I will say the first few hours you should play coop and help him discover items cuz you start with pretty much nothing there is no creative mode immediately available like in minecraft. Also he has to play with controller, he prefers mouse n keyboard but the controls are atrocious on them.

My five year old boy plays this and enjoys all aspects of the game including the building side, he understands it better than I do.

I was gonna wait for a sale but I was too hyped so I just got it. It's been years since I last paid full price for a game on Steam :steamsad:

So far he's loving it. He's getting a little frustrated with the camera but otherwise everything is great. I did have one bad crash though, couldn't even shut the game down it was stuck on a white or yellow screen.

The PS4 version crashed a fair bit to begin with but that's been patched now, hopefully they'll sort that out.

It's worth the asking price for sure, my kids have had way too many hours on the PS4 version and kept me off Bloodborne for too long. For kids it's one of them never ending games, like a huge bucket of Lego.

Same here my 5 year old has amazing understanding of objectives in games and he is often telling me "like THIS daddy, that's how you do it." or "You gotta get this and do that and that" and then he shows me and I'm like WHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!?!

This game is WICKED fun. My 5 year old and 12 year old play it together when my 12 year old comes over. When she's not over it's him and I playing for hours, but when she's here I let them play, I get jealous and some of my OTHER kids then start getting upset because THEY want a turn also...
