Frustrating camera angles! Any fix?
Has anyone else had major problems with the camera switching angles when you're trying to jump somewhere? Particularly frustrating on any of those time trials... suddenly you have to switch the direction you're going in. I find I can jump as I want to no problem as soon as the gate goes down again, but the angles (and thus, the required keys to press in terms of direction) keep changing willy nilly the rest of the time. Any fix for this?

Sorry, don't think there is any way round this. You just have to learn the camera positions and jump angles. The worst ones I found where when you need to jump at 45 degree angles.

There is also a trial, I forget the extact details, but think you can't take any damage (or maybe only 50% or something) and it's all just jumping on beams and stuff. Well, I got really far in and then there was this one point where you are high up and I just couldn't work out which direction jump was needed... so I took the plunge and went completely the wrong way. I didn't die, but lost the 100%. I've not been back to try again !!

Ugh. Well, I'm not so far in the game... sequence 10 maybe? The optional additional crypt through Uplay was a real pain - sometimes simply running between ledges is difficult if the camera angle changes but not so clearly that you can work out which button you need to press to go forward. I also had trouble in one of the Templar crypts where you're in some kind of brewery or something? Mm. I wonder if those parts, being additional parts, weren't tested as thoroughly. I seem to get there eventually, but I swear a lot and get quite narky with my PC in the process.

In the tomb in Venice, just when I was about to collect the rewards, I suddenly fell through the ground (see my screenshots)...very frustrating, I got pissed off and had to ALT F4 the game. But yeah, sometimes the angles mailny when fighting in the corners really suck and one gets really angry...

Yeah, I just played that uplay crypt - that was really bad. Think I know the particular section you were describing as it was the longest section and had the run-up-wall-and-reverse-jump bit, too !! I didn't really get any satisfaction from completing that uplay crpyt at all !!

I'm guessing you are playing with a controller as you refer to buttons. I've only ever played with keyboard and mouse. As for those timed trials, I have never completed one within the time limit and have no interest in trying to.

If it helps, you can re-centre the camera angle by pressing 'C' (on keyboard). Though that doesn't always help when figthing in small spaces. Also, I hate when the trees block your view, too !!

BTW, What does ALT-F4 do ?

ALT F4 basically termanites an application :) However, sometimes this combination does not correspond to console-PC conversed games
Oh god this happens all the time is really annoying

Raven - Actually I'm playing with the keyboard and mouse. So yeah, keys not buttons, but those damned key instructions that show up on screen make me think buttons! And yeah, the last two parts of the Uplay crypt were reaaaally bad. Other than that, the game is pretty cool... I like how things are split into bite-size chunks. I ordered a gamepad in the hope it may make it easier....

I think those camera angle changes are placed to make the time trials more challenging, which they succeed at haha. They are extremly annoying though. But I played through the dungeons a couple times and once you learn to expect the changed camera it's not rearly as bad.

I tried just recently with a gamepad.... and quickly gave up. How the hell do I see where I am jumping to? Even worse!

I beat the whole game 100% twice, without having any (serious) camera issues and I never fell through the floor, too.

Yeah, I tried, but for some reason the other axis didn't seem to do anything.. Maybe it was configured incorrectly. :S

Sorry for replying to old thread, but I just wanted to say I'm glad I'm not the only one who swears and gets upset at this game. Camera angles, slippery controls--they ask you to do complicated, precise tasks and give you greased hands to do it. As were both mentioned above, I think the Aldatore tomb extra and the Venice tomb with the 4 trials are the worst. Shame, because the architecture is neat, and going into the tombs reminds me of Zelda.

Totally contrived, totally frustrating--and then they add a TIME LIMIT on top of that. I hope to God the rest of the series tunes things up and isn't so frustrating. I am loving the hell out of this game. Except when I'm frustrating, swearing, throwing water glasses around the room. It is not fun and makes me wonder if I have anger management issues. Also makes me wonder why I even play video games if they just piss me off. Yet I continue with the game.

When you have to win the Carnivale games, some of those really really really pissed me off, too. I don't like being a psycho. I'm normally not angry at all. Really hoping the rest of the series will not inspire such rage in me.

How is it that the camera angles are completely different all the time ?
RosePlayedThis Dec 8, 2013 @ 10:55am
They fixed it in AC3. Controls are quite lovely in that... except:
There's a new lockpicking game which is quite hard on the PC. I have a gaming mouse so switched the sensitivity around a bit, which seemed to make it SLIGHTLY easier, but it is still a pain in the rear end.
Jesse Dylan Dec 9, 2013 @ 2:34pm
Wow, that's great to hear about AC3, and presumably IV (although I'll still have to suffer through Revelations, hehe). I use a gamepad on the PC, so I shouldn't be affected by the lockpicking it doesn't sound like.
