Axiom Verge
Dear developer: please never make a game with bosses in it again
The bosses in this game just plain suck. The first 3-4 are pattern based bosses, which are fair if I a little boring to fight once you puzzle them out. But then, about halfway through, the bosses turn into random bullet spewing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There's no way to dodge their attacks, it boils down to a game of luck and button mashing. Really put a sour taste in my mouth for the ending.

Random? Uh... They have patterns that can be dodged just fine...

what boss are you talking about?

Not to mention patterned bosses are par-for-the-course where old-style platformers are concerned. I didn't find any of the bosses too difficult except for the scorpion (which I didn't realize you had to hit from beneath, and which I won by sheer luck), and the first boss after taking the Breach Elevator, that shoots all those squiggly worm-like projectiles, and which was easily beaten after a single death and a weapon change.

I can guess since he said the first 3-4 bosses are fair that he is now at the Uhku variant and even then he also has a pattern its just harder to get used to it. Alternatively it could be Xedur Hul or even the Final Boss cause those are the only ones where you have a few more bullets on screen.

In general OP it would be easier to just say what boss you have trouble with instead of just complaining so that people can help you instead of just having no clue what boss you are talking about.

I found pretty much all of the bosses to be too easy. I mean, there were some where you could get behind them and then they couldn't even attack you, and others you could find a spot on the screen to crouch and shoot diagonally and get through literally unscathed.

Yeah, thats the only thing that i could ♥♥♥♥♥ at when it comes to this game and thats the easy bosses. Otherwise i totaly love it!

Urudu or whatever annoyed me but I didn't have much issues with any of the other ones. The scorp was easy. Just spam the blue beam I forget the name of.

Clearly you don't play enough retro games. The style of the bosses are perfectly in-line with the genre.

Pretty much any boss from the giant wasp on has unavoidable attacks, which is completely different to the first bosses.

Again part of the genre. In retro games, sometimes you have to choose to get hit by something that does less damage while you inflict enough damage on the boss to kill him. Think of it as a "timer" within which to beat a boss without a visible, countdown timer (not counting your lifebar).

i see where notzaar is going with this, and i agree. The laser spam boss was more of a DPS race unless you;re exceptionally good at dodging the seeking bullets and lucky enough to dodge the completely random bullets. while i hate to rag on a game i love, this was simply poor design, retro or not

the laser spam boss? he wasn't a problem either. just have to jump of the ledge in time so you won't get hit. Sure the bosses have patterns. But you still need insight, understanding and timing (reflexes) to avoid its attacks. I'm not at the final boss yet, but so far all bosses can be done without taking a single hit from their attacks. Just takes a bit of practice.

Actually the lasers are easily avoidable by ducking in one particular place, even moreso if you 'hacked' another platform that help block that position. Also, you sort of get the option of destroying the weapons that give you the most trouble in that fight. You could take out the laser first, just have to dodge the more difficult stuff while doing so.
Unless there's a second laser spamming boss I haven't seen yet?

The only bosses I actually dislike on a mechanical level is the Sentinel and final one. They just don't feel like you've 'mastered' them when you to beat them(probably because of the all the random, unavoidable damage).

I think the rest of the bosses are fine. They all have some aspects to them that you have to figure out and exploit. I think the difficulty, or lack there of, comes down to people expecting more punishment/danger for exploiting their weaknesses(most bosses can be defeated without taking a single hit once you figure them out).

As a side note, I kind of dislike how the Bifuricating weapon kind of cheats a lot of people out of figuring out the scorpion boss' weakness - I've seen more people brute force their way past that boss without understanding how it works than any other. (I've actually seen someone nearly take it down using only the laser drill!)

I love all the bosses. Too bad bee boss doesn´t talk to you too. Most bosses have weak spots too... for example bee boss - ice shards + hack bomb.
