Not starting on windows 10
i purchased conviction last night, and I have windows 10. Every time i try to start it, a box comes up and says "preparing game" or some ♥♥♥♥ like that, but then it just disappears. I've looked up all these ways to start it, and none of them are working. I've been trying for an hour, and tbh im getting really impatient and its starting to piss me off. Someone please help me

I get a message that says it won't work on my OS. I'm just running Windows 10. The minimum requirements say go up to Windows 7.

Hey guys, found this in another thread:

- Verify local files
- Check your path where the game is installed. Go to "redist" folder.
- Run "UbisoftGameLauncherInstaller.exe"

This gets past the error code, but then it goes to a window saying a Ubisoft service was unavailable. Garbage company with their online DRMs. Can't play it

I don't really know how I did it but I uninstall uplay and conviction and then re installed it and now all of a sudden it works.

I am running windows 10 64-bit OS and the game works fine for me.
if you get the error stating it doesn't work with your OS then click play anyways, might ask you twice and each time ignore that and click play or whatever option lets you play and the game will start up.
some of you may need to verify cache, run in compat mode and or run as admin.
all I did was redownload the game on my windows 10 64-bit machine, clicked play, a message popped up checking system and the OS was found not to work, I clicked go ahead or play anyways, same message appeared, I clicked play anyways again and the game started up. :Rubber_Duck:

most likely it was missing some files and when you downloaded it again it acquired the missing files. next time you start a game and it doesn't work verify cache before uninstalling as it will pretty much do the same thing as reinstalling the same but a lot quicker. :Rubber_Duck:

i get that error as well, it will display it once, click next, it displays it again, click next (or OK)
THEN the game will launch fine for me, on windows 10.

Had the same issue with the error code 1. I navigated to the redist folder and ran the Ubisoft game launcher and was able to make it past that error. However, I am now stuck on a different error about "a Ubisoft service is unavailable.

I did the above steps by Gare-Bear "Hey guys, found this in another thread:

Same result as described, then I installed the 'uPlay' client that i recalled the game using when i was on windows 7, and it worked!

Hope that helps.

Easy problem to fix, just compatibility mode it under windows 7. I had the same problem with windows 10 and just did that.

Go to Uplay, then add your serial number of the game to add the game to Uplay. Then run it via Uplay.
Maybe you should also run the executable of the game in compatibility mode for Windows 7.

Hi All

This worked for me:

1. Install direct x (the old version) --> http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=159853
2. After installing, launch the game from steam
3. It will patch the game, and then update uPlay (frikkin screwbisoft)
4. Uplay will launch and ask you to login (frikkin screwbisoft)
5. After it launches it will sit there looking at you like a forlorn puppy
6. Click on 'Activate a key' and enter the key from steam
7. the game will be added to your collection of ScrewbiSoft games
8. Try launching from uPlay. It will not work. Or maybe it will for you. It didn't for me.
9. Go to steam and launch from steam. It will launch uPlay, and ask if you want to connect steam and uPlay. Click yes.
10. The game launches

Note to self, No More ScrewBiSoft games.
