Rooted Android Phone
Is there any way to play Jackbox Party Pack if my phone is rooted? I've tried chrome and firefox and both will not load jackbox.tv. Please fix this.

What is AV?
I have an HTC One m7 running 5.0.1 Lolipop

A friend of mine has a rooted android phone and he couldn't connect to jackbox.tv and got a white page. I also looked at the FAQ for jackbox.tv and found this: "* Rooted or jail-broken devices are not supported." Now, this could simply be a way for them to wave any liability for rooted devices, but I genuinely think rooted/jailbroken devices aren't going to work.

I hope someone can prove me wrong here, though.

Some of them might, but we can't guarantee their performance since they have been rooted. You may want to try an alternate browser, and make sure you disable any adblock software on your phone. It may also affect the game if you have any internet filters or firewalls turn on.

I have a rooted phone, and I can get it to work. I do experience the white page when I load some pages however. My work around when I run into that problem is to actually load an incognito tab within the Android app. For whatever reason, that almost always works. Give it a try!

Also, check your /etc/hosts file. You just said you're rooted, not a custom ROM, but in case you have one, some come with pre-defined host entries supposed to block ads, spyware etc., but they also block jackbox.tv from working. I had to empty my hosts file to make the site work.

I have this issue. I get a blank screen on my Galaxy S4 (rooted) trying to use jackbox.tv with any browser. I think it is the /etc/hosts file which has been modified by some adblocking software (I can't remember what). I have read that others have had success editing their hosts file. My question to Jackbox Games is: What ad (or other) sites does jackbox.tv use/require access to that need to be removed from the /etc/hosts file?? Why do ANY ad sites have to be accessible anyway??
maddavo May 13, 2015 @ 9:00pm
I think I have solved the issue. I used developer mode on Chrome to see what sites the page at jackbox.tv accessed and crossreferenced that with the android /etc/hosts file. The site is "google-analytics.com". That line must be removed from the /etc/hosts file. When I removed it, rebooted the phone, then jackbox.tv was accessible on my Galaxy S4 (rooted).
Of course the question remains... Why does jackbox.tv need to access google-analytics.com ......?

I'm rooted (Nexus 4) and everything works just fine.

Also I sometimes feel like 110% of internet sites use google-analytics.com lol

Google Analytics is just an API that web site developers tap into in order to gather stats about visitors to their websites. Without similar tools, developers are unable to properly tell the number of visitors to their site and various other details. I've used the API myself, and haven't found anything suspect within it.

I'm rooted on a custom rom (well technically it's just the regular rom with bloatware removed) and it works for me. I suggest clearing cache and trying again.

Maddavo's solution was correct for me on my phone, deleting google-analytics from the hosts file fixed the issue on my Android with KitKatKiller custom ROM flashed on it. Great find! I also ran into the blank jackbox page issue on a kindle tablet, but fixed it by disabling AdBlock. Thanks for the help!

This is a MASSIVE problem. About half the time jackbox.tv loads to a completely white screen. The other half of the time it works. Entirely inconsistent and WRECKS the experience! (Maybe rebooting will help, maybe not. NOTHING changes between reboots, either!)

I tried to play today and every game except Drawbox worked - Drawbox just loaded white screens for everyone all the time.
