Here's every run following the initial novelty:
1.Invest the time to get corpse parts and skull for a single run (buy 4 charms, shelf them, restart run and pray you hit the skull charm). They're required for the 'real' ending. The corpse parts each increase the total winnings required to hit the next deadline. Also there's no way to skip dialogue or animations so get used to seeing this.

2. Lose the run because you can't reach the increased debt. You need to invest the time to get the corpse parts again.
2a. Win first deadline -> Get 0 charms that will contribute beneficially to your current or next deadline. You lose, invest more time setting up.
2b.Win first deadline -> Answer phone. Try to pick something that synergizes with your charms, but almost nothing will impact you this early. Get a charm that might help your current run. Check the requirements.
2b1. Requirements: Achieve something after <X> spins in a row without a reward. Result: You'll hit 3 cherries after getting nothing for the previous spins due to how "luck" works. This immediately disables the charm and you lose ~3 spins to achieve ♥♥♥♥-all. You lose, invest more time setting up.
2b2. Requirements: Keep red button charged with other charms and use the button abilities. Result: 8/10 times you won't get anything to recharge the button, button abilities aren't strong enough to beat 2nd, 3rd, or 4th deadline. You lose, see you in 2 more runs.
2b3. (X)% chance to activate. Result: the % is almost universally so low that you will not see a substantial return in time to win the deadline. You lose, again.
2b4. Get some meaningful combination and be able to afford it, move on to 4th deadline or 5th deadline.

3. Check subsequent phone calls for synergistic abilities with your charms. It's effectively a coin flip - there's enough options to select from that it could show up, but so many lackluster or antagonistic options as well. Hitting 666 will change the options you get as well, which can be out of your control and ruin you if your strategy in contingent on the neutral phone options. These are pretty relevant for making it to the ending so if you don't land on them you'll lose, set up again.

4a. The build gets outpaced by the deadlines and good old fashioned luck. You lose, set up again.
4b. The build you've put together manages to scale appropriately in time to unlock an ending. There's one for each memory card and getting all of them is the objective. Set up again.

I started out having fun, then hitting a rhythm, then getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over and getting impatient, and now just not wanting to bother with it. It's not fun to bother with the ♥♥♥♥-fest that is the corpse runs and it's completely unincentivized to do the normal runs. I've left Cloverpit in less of a good mood than I entered it on two occasions now, and I'm too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ old to let that keep happening.

I don't normally write reviews like this, so I'll cut the fat and just say that if you have no intention of being a completionist about this game, I would completely recommend it. Fun time killer with a unique aesthetic that has an extremely fair price point.

If you ARE looking at this game and consider yourself completionist, just steer clear. The corpse and memory card system is so fundamentally disrespectful to the players time that I can't wrap my head around it. Locking the games core replayability/reward structure around its own innate hard-layered RNG-dependent gameplay and various other forms of soft RNG is cartoonish. Seriously, imagine if you couldn't fight Mega Satan or Hush in The Binding of Isaac because your PREVIOUS run wasn't good enough- or worse yet, because your run was incredible, you were only given the option to go fight other bosses that you've already beaten.

If I have to give CloverPit anything, it's that it successfully Ludonarrative Dissonance'd me away from the gambling addiction it's trying to provide through horrible game design, so good job!
