Easter Eggs&References for foreign audience(SPOILER ALERT!)
AHTUNG! SPOILER ALERT!
AHTUNG! GRAMMAR NAZI AWARE!
This text contain a TON of mistakes.

Hello my beautiful comrades! I recently completed all original game routes, few mods and discovered some amount of easter eggs and references. Considering, that game was made by russian developers and almost all about USSR, I thought that some of that references (except whole-internet memes, world popular culture and anime) wasn't noticed by english-speaking audience. So I decided, for selfishness and cheap pride act of pure altruism explain some of them to you, western comrades. I think this information would be interesting for you.
While writing this note I was using some information from other sourses to fill holes that I doesn't know about some mascots and memes (but, at least, as user of ex-USSR internet segment, I've heard or read aboul all of them), so probably it possible that I made little mistakes. If you found some – please advise.
Whole note was written/translated by me. You can see it by my crappy inglish grammar :D
Before writing this, I looked in steam community and googled same topics in english internet segment and found nothing. If I missed it somewhere, please forgive me, I tried to be nice. If you learned something new from this note, please leave grateful comment, it will reward me for writing this ton of text. Also, if you know all of this already, spend one minute and leave a grateful comment also (yes, I stole this joke from Witcha).

Lets get started!

Characters
This is obvious that everybody in community herd or read in wikipedia that (almost) all ingame characters based on mascots of russian anonymous imageboards (IB). So I'll try to make obvious things short.

Semyon
Based on you, regular human of target audience of internet anonimous and anime-lovers.

Slavya
Based on Slavya-chan, mascot of russian IB 2ch(dot)ru. "Slavya" is derivative from "slav", eastern Europe ethnicity (orly?), so this is collecting image of slavic folklore. Slavya's appearance based on slavic folklore image of young beatiful woman – blonde, blue eyes and long braided hair. Also, she loves nature (as she saying). If you don't know, before slavs accepted Christianity in IV cent., animism (in general: union(google translate?) with nature and nature spirits) was their dominanting belief.

Alice
Based on mascot and antromorph of IB 2ch(dot)ru - Dvach-chan. Actually, “two” pronouncing in russian as “dva”, so in russian, name of this IB pronouncing as “dvach”, what leads to Alice last name – Dvachevskaya.

Lena
Based on mascot of russian IB iichan(dot)hkUnyl-chan. “Unyl” is reduction of word “unylaya”, what translates as “sad”, “moody” or “cheerless”, as she actually appears in the game.

Ulyana
Based on mascot of russian IB 2ch(dot)ruUSSR-chan. Her name is reference to the real last name of Vladimir Lenin – Ulyanov.

Miku
Maybe, only one “internationaly obvious” character. Based on Hatsune Miku – mascot of japanese voilse-synthesizer program “VOKALOID”.

Yulya
Based on mascot of russian IB iichan(dot)hkSEAO-chan (or SEAD-chan). SEAO(D) is acronym for South-Eastern Administrative Okrug (District) - one of the territorial divisions of the Moscow. Character was created and became popular after one of the IB users posted a story about guy, who met the catgirl in McDonald's shortly before New Year. Following the story, the main character lived in SEAO in Moscow. More information about her at Viola's description.

Olga Dmitrievna
Embodiment of Mod-chan (Moderator-chan) – hoster and head moderator of russian IB iichan(dot)hk. Funny, that anyone doesn't know anything about this person in real life, even her (his?) gender, because he (she?) using a reticent and cautious way of communication on IB. Investigation still goes and will last forever. Poster with Jean Marais as Fantomas in her cabin is reference to such level of concealment of personality (just my thought). Also, in game you can see a Banhammer under her bed.

Zhenya
Based on Mithgirl – female version of Mithgol the Webmaster – one of the russian internet-freaks, raging anti-semite and conspiracy theoretician, user on iichan(dot)hk. I suppose, his transgender version was putted into game purposely for trolling. He doesn't liked his mascot, as this game at all. I don't want write anything here about him, because thats too many. If you really interested in this person, maybe you'll find something about him by yourself.

Viola
Based on Collider-sama, the embodiment of Large Hadron Collider, created on IB iichan(dot)hk (why? idk), but it is not a mascot of any resourse. You can see an art with her on the background inside Ikarus bus (above windshield, left artwork). Viola educated in genetic engineering, working for LHC Inc., but hiding this. In the old scenario version she and her undergroung laboratory was the only case of Semyon's adventures, but in release version her plot influence was cut. Also, Yulya was a product of her lab, part of the secret project NEKO. The target of project was to make a creature that can be used as donor of human organs, but de jure not a human.

Elektronic
Reference to the main character of popular soviet adventure TV-miniseries “The Adventures of the Elektronic” - Sergey Syroyezhkin (played by actor Yuri Torsuyev). For plot details visit wikipedia (english page existence confirmed).

Shurik
Reference to another popular character of soviet movies – Aleksandr Timofeev (played by actor Aleksandr Demyanenko). The role of Shurik - the naive and nerdy soviet student – is his most known and popular role. Actor's name in 99% of cases associating only with his character Shurik (despite that he played in another soviet movies as well). He became overpopular after his appearance as main character in comedy film “Operation Y and Shurik's Other Adventures”(1965) directed by Leonid Gaidai (one of the most popular soviet directors). This movie was a hit and became the leader of Soviet film distribution in 1965. Demyanenko appeared as Shurik in two another Gaidai's comedies:
-“Kidnapping, Caucasian Style”(1967). Film topped the Soviet box office in 1967 with 76.54 million viewers;
-“Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future”(1973). One of the most attended movies in the Soviet Union in 1973 with more than 60 million tickets sold.
For more information about all of this you can visit wikipedia as well (all english pages about movies and personalities exist).
By the way, the name Shurik in Russian is a simple version of full name – Aleksandr.

Other memes and references:

Bus #410
Meme from russian IB iichan(dot)hk. Actually means “the bus that goes to hell”. Everything started in one of pointless threads in 2008, where one of anons posted a photo of a bus #410 that every day he goes to work. That bus looked so terrible, so another anon photoshopped a plate “bus is going to hell” on it. Everybody liked it, so soon thread was fill of various phoshoped pictures and even fan-arts of bus #410 that goes directly to hell.
The bus on original photo was LiAZ-667 (manufactured 1967-1994), also you can see it in game intro (bus that Semyon enters). The bus he exiting in “Sovionok” is different – touristic bus “Ikarus-256”.
Fun fact – in post-soviet countries bus LiAZ-667 called “skotovoz”, what means “cattle transport”. I guess, because of bus comfort level.

Logo of iichan(dot)hk
Logo looks like an opened book with yellow left part and green right part. You can see logo of this IB on the backgroung with winter bus stop (on the lightbox), on the background with cabins in the camp (first cabin right from the road) and inside the Ikarus bus (one of the stickers).

Genda
Gendo is one of the characters of anime “Evangelion”.

When the Cicadas Cry
When Semyon going to visit Olga first time in her cabin, he heards a piece of dialogue: “...and stop teasing Lena already...”, but “Lena” he misheards as “Rena”. This is reference to one of the characters from novel series “When the Cicadas Cry” - Rena Ryugu – a cute girl with huge cleaver. I guess, this is also a reference to Lena appearing in Miku original route.

First-aid post
Letters on the eye chart are not simple letters, its words (obvious for russian-speakers), all of them are russian internet-memes of mid-2000 period. Some of them take two lines.
КГ — acronym. Literally means “crappy content”.
это
пять! - literally means “Thats A!(mark)”.
аффтар
жжешь — means “author on a roll”.
cцyккo! - literally means “b1tch!”.
xyяссе — can be translated “oh ♥♥♥♥♥” or “holy ♥♥♥♥♥”.
низачот – means “fail” or something like that.
пазитиф – literally means “positive”.
ниасилил – means “haven't mastered”.
Last two lines are unreadable.

Also, at left near the shelf you can see a scheme of an alien. This is exactly “Alyosha the Russian Alien”. Google it for more details.

Clubs
In the main room of clubs you can see a box on the top of cabinet with plane scheme. Inscription on the box means: “Eroge constructor v 0.2.”

Alice & Ulyana cabin
Above Alice's bed you can see poster with Johannes Krauser II – main hero of ♥♥♥♥♥-up anime Detroit Metal City. What is second poster about I have no idea. There is inscription on it “ГОА”, what means “GOA” (like tourist area in India, but how it connected to “Sovionok” or Alice?).
Above Ulyana's bed there are three posters – first poster with kitten from soviet cartoon “Kitten named Bow-Wow” (you can find it on youtube in English). The second poster is a screenshot from the trailer to crappy and ♥♥♥♥♥-up strategy “Stalin vs Martians”. The inscription says: “I'm order you to dance!”. Third is just hockey poster (but maybe it have hidden sense, I don't know).

Olga's cabin
In her cabin you can see posters with classic anonymous with paperbags on the head and description. For additional references look Olga's description in “Characters” section.

Zhenya & Slavya cabin
Above Zhenya's bed you can see the poster with Mithgol's photoshopped photo (look Zhenya in “Characters” section). Above Slavya's bed you can see classic drawings of Russian famous artist Viktor Vasnetsov – “Three Bogatyrs”(1898), “Ivan Tsarevich Riding the Grey Wolf”(1889), “The Snow Maiden”(1899). Maybe, the last one is the reference to her ending (anyway, they looks alike).

Lena & Miku cabin
Above Miku's bed there are three posters: poster with Miku herself (in the middle) and posters with famous soviet musicians – Vladimir Vysotsky (1938-1980) at left and Viktor Tsoi (1962-1990) at right. Interesting, that poster with Tsoi is actually a poster to documentary film about him, that came out in 2006 - “You just want to know”.

Music club
On the blackboard, under the notes, there is a inscription: “Miku is a fool”.

Blow with the fires
The main menu music by Between August and December - “Blow with the fires” is actually have the same name that really existed pioneer song.

“Sovionok” camp IRL or its prototype
The “Sovionok” camp exist in real life! But its called “Volga”, located in Tver Oblast (state), Russia, stays on the river Volga (obvious) not so far from city of Tver (state center). Coordinats: 56°42'25.7"N 36°21'51.1"E (unfortunately, in Google Maps there is no high-detailed lanscape for this area, so you can look for it on other maps). And it's working! So, if you huge fan of “ES”, you can go for a vacation there :) Here their website: volga(dot)mephi(dot)ru. Unfortunately, I can't add photos here.

Thats all folks!
If you have some questions about something I forgot, please ask them.
Sincerely, me.

What a GREAT job comrade!
Если раньше этого никто не делал - это дело надо схоронить, допилить и выложить [кроме этого места] ещё где получше. Насчёт содержания не скажу, тут я не эксперт... а вот инглиш помочь подправить я могу.
Terrific_Ivan 7. juni 2015 kl. 12.25
