Dauntless FAQ
What is Dauntless?

Dauntless is a free massively multiplayer action RPG where you team up with other Slayers to take down powerful Behemoths.

Dauntless is FREE for all players.

What is Dauntless: Awakening?

A massive update to Dauntless revamping weapons, armour systems, improving progression, introducing new cosmetics, a new Behemoth (Karkanos), island, and more. Find out more about these new exciting features here.

Does Dauntless have crossplay and cross-progression?

Yes, and yes! Crossplay and cross-progression are powered by Epic accounts.

Why is an Epic account required to play?

To have seamless crossplay and cross-progression across platforms, there needs to be a unifying account system. We’ve used Epic since we launched and it’s worked great!

What languages are supported?

English, German, French, Spanish (LATAM), Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (BR), and Russian.

Does Dauntless include Blockchain?

No. We have no plans to add Blockchain or NFTs to Dauntless.

How do I create a hunting party with friends?

From the Social Panel, you can invite up to three friends to join your Hunting Party. You can invite them to your party via the same menu.

What is a Guild?

Guilds are a social feature in Dauntless allowing groups of Slayers to form in-game communities of their own. Any Slayer can form or join a guild by accessing the Guild tab in the Social Panel.

How do I join a Guild?

In the Social Panel, you can select the Guild tab to create or join a Guild. A leader officer must send an invite first to join. You can find lots of guilds recruiting in our official Discord.

What is the Hunt Pass?

The Hunt Pass is a season-long reward track, with both a free and an Elite tier, which can be leveled up by hunting Behemoths and completing Bounties to earn rewards.

What game modes are available?

- Hunting Grounds: Open worlds, where you can hunt a variety of Behemoths at a skill level of your choosing.
- Escalation: Test your grit with relentless back-to-back challenges, in a chaotic roguelike environment with experimental builds and modifiers.
- Gauntlet: Not for the faint of heart, offers 600+ levels of increasing challenges each season for you and your teammates with bragging rights for the most accomplished Guilds.
- Trials: Pits you against a Behemoth in a gladiatorial arena, with unique challenges and rewards, including a leaderboard comparing you to the best Slayers on the Isles.

How many Weapons are currently available?

As of Dauntless: Awakening, on December 5th, there are a total of 19 unique weapons - 7 starting weapons earned through quests, 11 unlockable through Weapon Tokens, and 1 weapon unlocked by buying the Elite Hunt Pass during Dauntless: Awakening season 1. You can also equip a subweapon, to give yourself a strategic advantage in battle via weapon-swapping.

What is the Slayer’s Path?

The Slayers Path is a Mastery Tree where you can unlock game modes, islands, modifiers, and more, through progression, quests, and defeating Behemoths.

We’ve made a significant shift to how players unlock new gameplay, modes, and content in Dauntless. While the Slayer’s Path is still present, it is now exclusively where you go to get bonuses and boosts to enhance your slaying journey.

Instead, all main progression, mode, island, and feature unlocks come from a brand new Quest flow that starts right at the Training Grounds and takes you all the way up to our end-game modes, with many adventures along the way.

What are Behemoths?

The Behemoths are cunning, large, and vicious creatures that hunt Humanity in The Shattered Isles. Your job as a Slayer is to hunt them and harvest their parts to enhance your equipment in order to take on even bigger challenges.

What Cosmetics are Available?

There are tons of ways to express yourself in Dauntless, including customizing your Slayer’s appearance, armour, weapons, glider, emotes, banner, flare, and even arrival animation to start your hunts in style.

What type of gear is available in Dauntless?

- Weapons: 19 unique weapons, broadly belonging to 7 weapon types, all with different playstyles.
- Armour: Crafted from Behemoth parts, can be upgraded for stronger defense, and provides gameplay advantages via Perks.
- Perks: Augments that are unlocked through a combination of Armour, and the Cells placed in them.
- Cells: Items you can earn through hunts and place into armors to top off various perks, to enhance your combat capabilities to best suit your playstyle.
- Supplies: Consumable items used during hunts to temporarily enhance your abilities.
- Omnicell Cores: Special items gained through quests that add unique active and passive abilities to your arsenal.

What is a game session like in Dauntless?

Easy to play, and hard to master, Dauntless has something for everyone! Head to the Hunting Grounds to slay some Behemoths for a few minutes, or head to the Gauntlet for longer, more intensive, and even competitive sessions.

How have weapons changed with Dauntless: Awakening?

Weapons now only need to level once up to a maximum of 60; each with a Special, Passive, and Legendary ability with 25 modifications to choose from. Did we mention you can bring two and swap between them? That’s a lot of customization. Previous weapon progression systems, like Reforges, have been retired.

How have buffs and debuffs changed in Awakening?

Prior to Awakening, they were a bit hard to understand. We’ve simplified and improved the system. There are now fewer Buffs, and we’ve made them easier to understand and utilize.

How has hunting Behemoths changed in Dauntless: Awakening?

Some older Behemoths have gotten AI updates to improve their encounters.

How are currencies changing in Dauntless: Awakening?

There were a lot of currencies to keep track of, both permanent and temporary. We’ve cut down on these to improve the user experience. Check out the latest announcement here for details.

Has monetization changed?

Yes. While we are committed to keeping Dauntless free for everyone, this next phase of Dauntless includes more future-thinking monetization, to sustain Dauntless long term.

They thought it would improve build diversity and variety (I'm not joking)
They also removed exotic helmets, a handful of cells, and now you need a maximum of up to +6 on any cell to get ANY benefit...
Me and my friend have to use meta builds now because out niche ones got deleted

When are you going to roll back to pre-Awakening?
Is this game dead? Will there be any more updates? Rollbacks? I still haven't killed a behemoth with a bow...
Another Dauntless FAQ. Q: is this game abandoned? A: Yes. Yes it is. We digitally mugged you and left... because that's what muggers do. :insurgent:
