Game crashes when paused

Hey, as soon as i pause the game while playing, the screen freezes and the music continues. But all controls are locked. I can only get out by pressing alt f4.
Is there a fix to this?

Im running 64bit windows 10.

i tried pretty much
- disabling fullscreen
- trying compatibility modes win 8, 7 , vista sp2, xp sp3, win 98,95

nothing helped solve the problem

Yo! Very weird, just tested it on win10 64 bit and did not encounter this. Are you using the Esc key to pause? Does hitting Esc unpause it? Do you hear any sfx when hitting up/down?

hey, i pause by pressing esc on keyboard or the pause key on my xbox gamepad. I dont hear any sounds when pressing any the controls after the freeze.
And there is no way to unpause, not by hitting esc, the pause button on gamepad or any other key

dang, never seen that one before, sorry that's happening to you. Have you tried reinstalling it?

hmm, im not sure to be true. I guess yes. But its no problem anyway any more. I played through the game now. Why did i have to start it on master tho, my own fault lol. Wanted to descrease difficulty in the hard places lol. Anyway, can pride myself now to have beaten it on that difficulty :thumbs up: was a great game.

I'm having issues replicating this on windows 10 (completely up to date). Can you tell me a bit more about your set up?

I have the exact same issue here, on my laptop running windows 10 family 64 bits
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
16Gb of ram
Intel Core i7-8750H 2,20 GHz U3E1

Thanks for sharing. Does this happen in every mode (narrative, operative, master)? Does it happen in level select? Thanks!

I was able to replicate the issue! It seems to only happen in Master mode (when testing it doesn't happen if I start a lower difficulty, exit to menu, then start in master, which is why I missed this the first time).

Also I should note that currently the difficulty switching options doesn't include Master mode, but with this fix I'll shoot to include that.

just an update here - my personal PC died right at the start of shelter in place here a while back. Talk about timing! Once I'm able to get it fixed I'll try to get an update going.
