GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM

GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM

Real question.
I don't play gacha games so im ignorant to this. Apart from the ''pay to win'' or almost' ''pay to win'' side of it, every battles has to be auto-play? or in some you actually have to make some real decisions to win?

autoplay is pretty basic (aka dumb) so unless the battle is extremely easy, without specific win conditions, and you're overleveled, it's generally better to control the units yourself. Even when you reach endgame, the only times you'll actually use auto are mostly story battles and the daily platoon battle.

1.
This is mostly Singleplayer and Story Focused.
So there really is no Pay to Win.

You can Pay absurd amounts of Money to basicly get everything up to max Level the first Time the Respective Banner Drops.
While Free Players will have to Grind to get the Event T-Dolls and will also generally need to wait for Reruns or for the Event to be added to the Permanent Pool before they can actually Max them.

But You cant Win anything with that because the whole Story is Playable without doing this.

2.
Most of the Story and Basic Event stuff can be Done with Auto-Play as long as you keep your Team Leveled up and Equipped to the Respective Level of the Mission.

However. For Challenge Missions and Specific Event Missions. As well as the higher Levels of Supply Stages. Auto-Play will no longer Cut it. Meaning that here You will Generally have to Play Manually and Play in a Tactical/Strategic Way to Win.

3.
Beyond the Challenge Missions there is also Generally always some other Minigames and Such.
For example. One of the Events basicly had a Minigame of Brotato.
Right now we got a Crazy Chicken Variant Minigame.
There is also the new Boundary Mode where You got a bit of a Commandos Like Setup.

Either way.
Its Free to Play.
If You are Interested. Just give it a Try.
Its Perfectly Playable as a Free to Play Player.
And dont worry about not getting a T-Doll during an Event or something.
There is no FOMO here.
All Events are Rerun. So there is always a Next Chance.
Autoplay AI is dumb as a brick and makes really stupid decisions. Your team needs to be stronger then the enemy for it to work while if you play yourself, you can beat your opponents even with underleveled squads.

Autoplay is generally serviceable, because the game is very easy outside of challenge missions. I'm actually frustrated with how often I can get away with autoplay, when I just want a moderate challenge.
Daily Patrol isn't hard, yet the AI is able to fail at it. It really suffers from spamming ults on cooldown for no reason. Examples:
Lotta ults two enemies and instead of using her skill 2 to be able to ult next turn with a damage boost, she uses her skill 1 and has to use her skill 2 the next turn.
Sharkry will ult even if there are no targets in range and just ends her turn.
QJ ults as the last unit, making the ult basically useless. Or even worse, she ults instead of killing an enemy.

The real P2W thing is almost nothing, it's a little matchmaking stuff where, if you are in the top 50 at the end you earn profile features. There is nothing P2W for real here and it's fine. If you do those matchmakings 20 times you get real good rewards, the top 80 and top 50 are just profile stuff. Btw you can beat the powerful rosters just doing this on your own and not in auto if you want. There is no real PVP, you will just face players rosters and they are stupid AI played.

If you autoplay the endgame you may face failures, there are some contents (not events) where you better manual play your dolls to be able to get the rewards but it's like when you do the 50+ level stuff, like boss battles and some drills, depending of your roster.

Been free to play since day 1, the first few weeks were a stretch and you can rely on auto play on some stages but you'll really need to do some big braining on boss stages.

I'm up at this point now where I somehow managed to get Klukai v3, Makiatto v1, QJ v1 and Suomi v0 alongside their signature weapons. I kid you not, you can let the game play itself and it kills everything unless its a very specific full clear requirements that you'll need to play it manually.

You dont even have to worry about PVP to earn those extra premium currency as the community itself helps each other out by placing just 1 of their weakest doll for defense for faster clears and easy ranking.
