Workaround to play on Linux?

Hi, i managed to install & start the game but it crashes after "press start" at the title screen. Happens to me with Ge-Proton and Normal Proton, Tested 8,9, experimental, ge-proton 8.32.

Im on Linux Mint/Ubuntu.

i can play on steam deck use GE-Proton9-12 other proton GE9-18,8,9,experimental crash my game or not launch

But what actually worked is using the Darkwinter Launcher version, postet here in the Forum. No longer crashes at startup, and runs fine with the reccomended proton ge version 9.12

Doing this on Deck, 9-12 doesn't work for Haoplay version, it still crashes.

Finally it started working after killing process GF2_Exilium.exe (twice) and hitting "START" again

It crashes after pressing start at the títle screen because haoplay client uses microsoft edge webview2 for the login window instead of whatever darkwinter client uses.

So I searched how to install that dependency without error but all the info I've found filled with linux vocabs I don't understand like changing wineconfig to win 7.
My stupid brain only capable of understanding protontrick and steam ecosystem, it'd be great if there is visual guide to help me understanding all those vocabs.
Imma give up for now and just play in window since I dual booted my Deck.

run protontricks, then select the one you are using for the game, then select default prefix (in proton that means the selected one), then select open winecfg, there should be the Windows version option.

Yes, but it required more steps to get it working. I followed this guide in the comments here:

And one extra thing i did was switch to GE-proton9-20 because wine-ge8-26 had visual glitches in pre-rendered cinematics.

Does it work fine?

The login window is a bit buggy and sometimes doesn't appear but it doesn't matter after the initial login as it logs in automatically. The game itself works flawlessly without any crashes or glitches. I hope they fix it for the steam release because the webview2 login window is literally the only issue.

Just wanted to say, I use windows 11, and I debloated everything, including edge and webview, I had to reinstall webview to play the game, since I had the same issue as you guys, so, thank you for pointing this out

I got mine running now using this guide!
