Yes, Square Enix holds publishing rights to Grandia III, as does Ubisoft with the original PC release in the USA. (The original PC release wasn't based on the dreamcast version, so it could be considered a different game.) Grandia III was also produced mostly by Production I.G. and some of Game.Arts, while Game.Arts went on to make more mobile and Japanese-Only games.
Grandia III on PC would be nice, but unless Square says so, it likely won't happen, due to how bad Grandia Xtreme was for them. But because of the amazing ports to PC of both Final Fantasy 13 anf 13-2, with amazing keyboard controls and resolution / FPS support... you never know.
Indeed. Grandia was a very great game, a little risque and awkward at some points, but really good. While Grandia Xtreme was absolutely terrible, it had one amazing mechanic that Grandia II and Grandia III don't have, and that's cross-character skills/spells. Sure, Grandia III has cross-character aerial attacks, but it doesn't compare to what effectively is used in Tales of Xillia / 2 currently.
Who holds the rights to Grandia 1? Any idea?
Entertainment Software Publishing for the Saturn version
Sony for the PS1 version
Don't really see it being a problem.
It seems that the next RPG on your list would have to be on consoles. Star Ocean seems to have the most momentum right now (other than Persona 5). I don't have a PS4, but those games may give me a reason to want one.
