Game starts and goes into a progress bar saying the game is being prepared. It crashes at 57% every time. Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

I'm at the point where the Shin and Nobi are listening to the legend, and Nobi says, "Take that! And that! Shin, hold him while I hit him!" For some reason, the game hangs there. It's not "frozen," the fire still moves, the character's idle animations loops around, the audio still plays, etc. I just can't go any further. I am using xbox elite v2 controller but the game is only responding to a few buttons from it. The left stick and the dpad aren't being recognised. Any tips?
