Desktop Mate

Devs implemented Anti Modding
This is writing to the Devs but If a game is actively preventing MelonLoader then there is not much we can do.

i suggest everyone not to buy the DLCs and such unless the Devs changed their mindset on modding, trying to kill the modding scene wont turns out well and the community will only hate the Devs more

Devs made latest version unmodable. and implemented Anti Modding

It shouldn’t be hard to find an older version of the application outside of Steam at this point.

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. Someone already told on another thread how to downgrade from Steam itself, lol.

Please can you tell me how? I tried the console thing but it doesn't work for me. I just got Melon and I want my hololive vroids to work.

we shouldnt have to restort to such methods to enjoy this app to its fullest

Devs have made their stance and now they should suffer the consequences

Its horrible practice. Having to be forced to use older versions is just bad means we wont be getting any future updates. Mods are important for any health of the longevity of the game and its sad the Devs go this route

They aren't getting your money either way, so why do they care? Did you think they made this for fun or boredom?
Solution copied from user: GAMERDSH

Open WIN + R and paste:
steam://open/console

Then in the console of steam put this:
download_depot 3301060 3301061 8228098102537752112

This will download previous version in a folder, the log will tell you where (for me in Steam\steamapps\content\app_3301060\depot_3301061)
Then where the downloaded version is, copy and paste it in the main folder of desktop mate (Steam\steamapps\common\Desktop Mate)

Hope it works for you because it did for me
Yeah dont buy the DLCs nothing, boycott it, its the only way, they put middle fingers to all modders who work for free to promote their game

anti modding - players riot its simple as that

Bro Paicom looks ugly, but maybe modders will be able to change it.

Moreover it's a single model with changed a bit animations and it's overpriced

Downgrade the game following the guide earlier in the thread, then exit steam and go into your steamapps folder, look for "appmanifest_3301060.acf" and set it to read-only. This will prevent Steam from updating the game any further.

Statistically, games that allow modding last longer, get more exposure and, despite what you think, also make a lot more money. If more people are around, then there are more opportunities for some of those people, to donate to the devs by buying DLC and such, without being forced to.
