Anyone remember Felix?

Same deal, virtual desktop CAT thing from like a decade ago or something. It was kinda cute at first, then it got annoying, then it felt like the little ♥♥♥♥ was purposefully trying to get in the way, then when you try to remove it, its still there, and you have to hire an exorcist to deal with the problem.

Is this anything like that?

This is a throwback for me. Only OGs will remember that Felix the Cat desktop buddy. I had this on Windows XP or perhaps it was Windows 2000? I suppose we'll have to settle for cat girls in Desktop Mate.

I remember a similar thing to this back in the late 90's early 2000's. It was around the time of that dumb purple monkey and clippy. There were several around at the time and some of them had Tamogachi style mechanics. They pooped, you had to feed them, and they had different attitudes if you didnt play, pet, or feed them.
