Melee not weak, did you unlock Kevin or Mark yet?
especially the later acts are way more relaxed with the ranged girls.
And of course I was dodging as often as possible, but John's only got the one dodge charge and it's not a particularly fast cooldown.
The best bet with John is to keep your distance from big groups and try and use the terrain to funnel them towards you in a controlled fashion. The block is more useful than the dodge as you can use it more often. If you do get surrounded is when you should save your dodge and get out of there, reposition to where you can have a bit more control over their approach. You will take hits with him though, its inevitable.
I do think he is one of the less interesting characters to play but I find that is the case with Tanks in general in any game. He is kind of solid and reliable but not my fave. There are a lot of family members though so if he doesn't work too well for you I am sure someone will.
Yeah that is great for crowd control, especially with the weaker enemies that rely on mobbing you.
John, for example, can do a lot more damage than Linda. (For simplicity sake, I'm not going to include runes in that assumption, because runes can vary from run to run and change things up drastically.) But he's much more vulnerable and requires more skill and timing to avoid dying while also getting all of his damage out efficiently.
However, if you DO manage to get good enough with, say, John... he's a wrecking ball, putting it simply. I cleared the first spirit with John and it was good. Had to take a break from him cuz of the corruption, but yeah, he's a badass.
I did beat the spider boss with John today, but that was only due to having that one charm that brings you back at 50% health when you die.
I'm liking Kevin a lot so far. Swiftness is more my speed. (I won't apologize for the pun).
I can't play John at all because he relies on blocking which I always forget to do. Kevin is decent but against bosses the melee characters just get absolutely demolished.
Meanwhile I can thrash the boss of Act 1 with Lucy and not even get hurt. I dunno, it does feel weird.
Melee like knight, assassin and monk is still stronger than ranged list at the moment..
