From what I see around, it's also a game that quite a few say that "no one asked for this", understandly so since there's alot other SEGA games that people would rather have gotten on PC, even when it comes to Sonic games (I wonder if it would have done better if it was ported/released after other much more requested games/franchises).
I'm not that much surprised about the numbers, though I think it may get somewhat decent numbers once it gets into the spotlight through a daily/midweek/weekend type deal...maybe...
It's not a BAD game, it's justa bit different.
Generations has been out on PC much longer, has had price drops, and was in a Humble Bundle. Of course it'll have dramatically outsold Lost World.
And I think many PC gamers are older, and the older ones still remember Sonic. So it's selling mainly on Nostalgia imo.
Also, most Sonic games were like Lost World. Decent but nothing special, eversince the Genesis Sonics. I definitely don't think Lost World is all that terrible, it does a lot of great things.
But imo the problem is with Sonic Boom having really dragged the Sonic name down the mud.
That game wasn't just decent or simple, it was downright aweful. Not even Sonic 06 was that bad. Boom is like Zelda CDI, but then imagine Nintendo actually being the one that released it.
It not selling well is the market working.
Sonic games on the end work the opposite way. People buy them immediately upon release because they're Sonic games, and often get burned by the quality, even though they knew the risk. Then you give the game some time in the sun and interest can only drop from there as word of mouth or lack thereof (nobody was talking about this game anymore) spreads.
