IIRC you get the original when you buy YOSE, you just don't get any of the improvements/additions if you play the original SoD

I'd assume it's in your library and you have to install it

There are several ways to get an FPS increase. Some of them are really daft, but they do seem to work.

1) Don't have SoD installed at the same time as YOSE. This is probably similar/related to (4). Removing SoD seems to increase performance, especially in areas where things are loaded into memory and HDD is accessed. Why? My guess is that YOSE searches in the SoD folder as well. It's the only thing that makes sense. I have a strong suspicion that someone did not properly remove legacy code that grants access to the SoD folder structure, and that makes sense in a migration to xBoxOne, because you simply cannot have SoD installed there. It is exclusive to xBox360. It leaves PC owners in a bit of a predicament though, if you are on the fence on what you want to play when. Thinking that through, it could even be a cause of buggy behaviour.

2) Disable steam overlay. It happens in many games that Steam overlay causes problems and lowers performance, so it is not YOSE specific (and it worked in SoD as well). Someone will have to lecture me on exactly who is responsible for this, whether it is shoddy coding of the overlay, or if devs integrate it badly with their products.

3) Run in big picture view. Sort of makes sense, since both SoD and YOSE are ports from a console platform. But I don't actually know the reasons for how and why.

4) Don't run the game executable in Admin mode. My guess is, that this allows YOSE to search for assets outside of the YOSE folder structure, hence making search times longer, which delays loading, which worsens performance. I am not sure why this is so (maybe because you can't do this on a console like xBoxOne???), but I can definately see a difference. Which also means, if you are running with UAC turned off, you are gonna have worse performance, because everything is basically running in Admin mode by default.

5) Run the game on an SSD (not tested by me, but my game HDD is far from the best, and it shows). Defragmentation is not an issue, nor is the physical movement of the drive disc and write/read heads. Simple terms, you can pull data from any part of an SSD as fast as any other, which you can't do on a normal HDD. Works a treat on Arma engine games.

This of course does not deal with various local problems, such as poor rig configuration and maintence, common problems such as some drivers work better with a particular game than others, and so on and so forth. Proper rig configuration and maintence is vital. Anyone that played games in the pre-Vista days knows this. You basically had to wipe and reinstall every year, because windows would grow and mutate like a cancer. I am running an over 4 year old installation of Win7 x64 and I am still getting great performance, and I never was able to do that before... but then again I know how to clean out the crap and get problems fixed.

All being said, and this does sound pretty bad for YOSE, I do think it runs better than SoD did on the same specs, and I can prove that at least it does for me, despite the product basically going from recommended+ requirements = minimum requirements.

The game was made to imrpove the xbox verison. The PC verison graphics may have increased by 5% and that is being genious. It's not a demanding game, I'm not sure if having a higher frame rate is going to do much.

I think the game runs a little smoother, the glitches are there...like the zombies in the floor boards, but the devs on their pod cast openly admitted that they didn't fix a lot of the glitches. The cars drive a little better and if the do flip theya seem more likely to land on their tires.

For me disabling steam overlay works like a charm even when im driving
My spec i5-3450 Nvidia GTX 750Ti and 4GB ddr3 666Mhz
Average fps when not driving ~70 on max spec, when driving depends where from 45(occurs from time to time) to 60
