Why do you want mods?
Because they enhance the gameplay.

QMJS is one of the biggest for example.

It just doesn't run that well with Lifeline as per personal experience.
But you can erase pre-defined base parts like a Parking Lot and build something else there.

It worked fine in story mode and Breakdown.
Why install something that doesn't run well with part of the game, it's like intentionally crippling your game for some weird small reward in the end

Look at the game as three distinct games in one.
Breakdown, and Lifeline.
Each mode can be modded, but the mods for Story and Breakdown are both in the same location using the same vehicles, gear, buildings, characters, etc. so this make mods pretty much compatible for both.
Lifeline is a completely different location, gear, people, etc.
Most mods are specific to which modes they are geared toward.
I loved Breakdown and pretty much stuck with it and rarely ever play Lifeline, so why would I want a Lifeline specific mod?

Eh, qmjs is one of the more unstable mods out there, probably owing to the fact it does so much.

Vanilla SoD has never crashed for me, other mods only crash on load if I've installed them wrong or they aren't compatible with each other, mods I've made also only crash when I've messed up the code in some way or I did something else wrong.

qmjs would regularly crash on loading and it would semi-regularly crash during gameplay, something no other mod has ever done to me. It really doesn't run well at all.

But there's really nothing quite like it.

Because I couldn't play without it anymore.

Vanilla is just too unflexible.
You can't deconstruct many of the pre-defined buildings in your home bases.

Never crashed on me in Story or Breakdown.

You can even start Lifeline with it, deconstruct one of the parking lots and then uninstall it.

The savegame still worked for me and I was able to build a building into the parking lot, where otherwise I would not be able to create ALL the available buildings at once.

Anyways, I played Lifeline to the fullest now.
Only missed the Drone attacks achievement... Which I am not so keen to get.

Guess I'll go back to Breakdown. <3

EDIT:
Ok, after further testing I suppose this mod only works for story mode.

My main concern about the game is that you have no freedom with the bases. Everything else is fine.
But I like to deconstruct pre-existing rooms and place something I'd like in that spot.

QMJS made that possible.
I even found other mods, but on the discussion sites it was either stated that it's not compatible with Breakdown. :(

This one seems the only one currently compatible with Breakdown YOSE:
https://www.nexusmods.com/stateofdecay/mods/306
But it doesn't allow you to deconstruct pre-defined rooms in your home base.

It was fun as long it lasted... :wellok:
