hey is there a clock? night/day timing.
hey id like to know about the day/night cycle, is there a clock?
are there events that turn day to night?
what are the significant gameplay differences between day/night
apart from the obvious that its harder to see. are there spawn differences?
sneak bonuses? damage bonuses for zombies?

also I've beaten the first game, and before moving on to breakdown I want
to really get into the map and strategy. Ive been skilling up in the starting
area and it has been dusk forever! cardio and fighting is way up.

optimising. is this in my head or is it outside of the normal
day/night cycle (tutorial area)

There are mods for clocks as well as extending day or night cycle. The game plays at a steady rate while you are logged in, but continues after you log out,

Check this thread. I consider WillieSea the best expert on Steam regarding SoD: YOSE.

thanks, some god points by willie.

are there bonuses to zeds at night? not addressed by willie.

** my assumption is no. night means less vision and that is all.**

Just to comment here but while the game does continue when you log out, it goes I believe for another two in-game days before it stops tracking time and just freezes everything until you log back in.

Thank you. I should have clarified that.

Ah good to know that I always wondered why I'd see in playthroughs people come back after weeks and weeks of not playing and they still have a relatively stable camp and stuff.

I am not aware of any. The only difference I see between day and night is the visibility, especially with flashlight.

There are mods that reduce night cycle and expand day, as well as flashlight mods that make it easier.

Day and night is 1 or 2 hours real time each. Its been a long time since I didn't use a mod (Master Clock) to alter it.
There aren't any player bonuses but there are more zed spawns at night.
Marshall area has more zombies, especially indoors. Rural areas have more, too, but not as many as Marshall.
I used to mod it so overall zombies were significantly less but have recently gone back to vanilla settings.

I do know that that the "survived another day" restocked locker etc seem to happen only after one real time (not game time) day has passed before the simulation kicks in. So for example if you started on May 7 you would have to wait until May 8 and then start again before it will resupply you and also take care of other little housekeeping details like clearing off enclaves from the map that sort of thing. Thank you Mystyk for the info and I like vanilla also but then again I've never used mods for SOD I admit lol.
