SOD 2 Skill Specializations
Anyone playing SOD 2.
Do you know what the white and yellow skill specializations mean?

I've noticed when leveling up certain survivors, both skills will be highlighted either white or yellow and sometimes both will be highlighted yellow. The game doesn't exactly explain it, but my theory is that the game is hinting that a yellow highlighted skill is better suited for that particular survivor.

Any thoughts?

Yellow star skill specialties are ones that you are able to choose from because that survivor has a backstory trait that allows them that knowledge. For most skills there are roughly 4 specializations in total but only two can be chosen from by anyone - there are 2-ish general ones that anyone has a chance of getting and 2 career/trait specific ones that will appear if there are suitable backstory traits involved.

For example, the active duty military character you get at the start of the game will give you Discipline as a possible wits specialty while a regular average Joe with no wits-related job may only be able to choose between Stealth and one other random thing.

I had a character that was an author and had high wits because of her job - I was able to choose between both Gold wits specialties (Resourcefulness and Discipline) when I specialized her.

Generally the gold ones have particular benefits that outdo the standard ones but they are all unique, so choose the one you think suits the character best. However having a background that gives you that knowledge will give you access to the more powerful ones.

Wow. Awesome explanation. Thanks! I had a feeling it had something to do with the backstory because of the active duty military character that you mentioned.

I had one character with the "ready for anything" trait that was able to choose between ALL the possible specializations. She had 4 different options for fighting, wits, cardio, and shooting each.
