State of Decay 2 - Poor base building
After the first SoD , I really thought the Dev´s would have listened and learned something about building a base in a situation like this .
All bases have far too many openings for zombies to enter through .
Now , I am in my second town now , and all bases but one , so far , has 4 openings in the walls . The one not having 4 , has 2 (and that is next to a bridge in the first town) .
In a situation like this , you don´t ever have more than ONE opening .
Also , in State of Decay 2 , I had hoped we would be able to actually build up own base as we would have it . But no , bases are still non realistic .
If you reach a situation like this in real life , and build a base like this , you don´t live long .
Too many openings , not enough wall defense . People at the base , not doing their respective jobs as they should . A farmer , don´t get to the guard tower . A medic don´t go to the guard tower .
But , the Dev´s don´t seem to care what people want , so we have a poor base building game , yet again . This time with somewhat worse building options within the base . Having a large level 2 farm is fine . Having the option to upgrade it to level 3 , is fine . But not being able to upgrade it to level 3 , because the leader doesn´t have the neccessary skill (even though the farmer does) , is simply poor base building in a game . Especially when it comes to survival .

A proper base building , would have one opening in the wall . In that way , you can use ALL your peoples strength in one place . If you have more than one opening , you weaken the strength of your base , because your people have to cover more openings at the same time . NOT a good thing . NOT realistic .
Also , people are different , and have different needs . And different likes . I have not yet seen a single base in these two games , that I would have build in real life . I have not yet seen a single base , that was satisfying to me . I have , however , seen a few that was so-so . But only just .
When the first game came out , people wanted to be able to build their base from scratch . We never got that . Then the second game came out , and we still don´t have that .
If we find a farm house we like , we should be able to settle there (because we want to) , we should be able to build up fences as we see fit (because we want to) , we should be able to build defenses as we see fit (because we want to) , we should be able to build the room we want to at the base , even in several floors (because we want to) .
Moving from place to place , is a total waste of resources , not to mention a waste of hard work .

Simply put , base building in these two games , are a joke .

Honestly I could have been fine with pre-set bases if it was well designed bases, but what the game has right now is a joke. If the devs of this game had to deal with a zombie apocalypse, they would not survive long with their designs lol. If they cannot be bothered to think critically the design of a base they could at least watch some Walking Dead for some reference or the way military bases/prisons are structured. There is a reason watchtowers have snipers and there is barbed wire around the building.

you can use cars to block entreances to bases im using conatiner fort and i have the back and side blocked with cars
and it funnels all the zombies to the front of the base

Cars aren't exactly the same as in State of Decay 1, they are a commodity now.

They can block stuff...

I just call them in with influence points (pre-order and ultimate bonuses). Some allied enclaves offer call in airdrops for cars too. lol.

Also, please never prevent survivors from using the watchtower just because they have other skills. My medic is a sniper, my assault gunner is my engineer.

The hell, talk about something useful being excluded to sell a game.

@Base, not like it matters much, there's so little threat, the stars have to align for anyone to die in basedefense in this game, unless your people perhaps don't have guns yet

the reason bases he-ll everything was restricted in the first game was file sizes being 2gig limit, how ever im pretty sure thats not the case for SoD 2,

on a side note i have come into info regarding DI-CK move by MS to take over PR ASWELL as the funding and other aspects of the game so im wondering now if the devs are just not feeling happy about the new vision of their game and their hearts arent in it any more.

in SoD even with the restrictions everything was hand made and had that feel to playing it.
