SoD - YOSE : Massive lags and stuttering
Hey guys, so, I bought the game a couple of weeks ago and started to notice that it was laggy as hell. I found a thread somewhere and got a modified engine that made my game work on low specs with no lag. It ran smoothly for some time, but a couple of days ago I got a new update on my Windows 10... and the game went to hell.
The launcher just shows in the corner of my screen, and then it takes me right to the menu, with no starting logos or something. I continued my game like nothing happened, and suddenly I began experiencing lags like never before. The game is literally unplayable right now, and I have tried everything I found on the internet in order to make it good... but it seems like this new update messed it up for good.
Can I get a little help ? I really love the game and I would be very sad if I couldn't play it anymore...

Since your using " a modified engine " I'm not sure what will work to fix that

The modified engine helped a lot, but I think there is something wrong with the resolution. I don't think it adjusts properly. It used to launch normally with the logos and all... now it launches in a small box in the left corner of the screen and opens up directly in the menu of the game. I don't know what got wrong, but now the game is literally unplayable with the amount of lag it gets...

The game opening in a thin window on the left then going straight to the main menu is normal.
Try changing the res to be really small and see how that goes and even lower the graphics

Edit: If you want to remove the intro then get this mod
https://www.nexusmods.com/stateofdecay/mods/23 and dont forget to read its description

This engine that I was talking about helps with lowering my graphs in order to adjust the framerates. As I said, it was working pretty good a couple of days ago. The ♥♥♥♥ started happening right after my windows updated, It completely messed up the game. I tried a couple of mods that I found on nexus, as recommended on some threads... but I kinda lost hope after hours and hours of tweaking with no success. I can't understand why though... it's kinda sad, because I spent a lot of time in the game while it worked, and now whenever I play more than 2 minutes, it's like trying to watch a 4K movie on a low end PC from the 90's...

Your talking about using it to "lower graphics" to get better fps so i can only assume your not on a very powerful pc to begin with. What are your specs? and what fps did you get before?

It's a Asus Republic Of Gamers laptop. I got 8 RAM, i7 - 7700HQ and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4Gb. I didn't actually check the framerates, but I could play the game smoothly on low graphs with that engine installed. Now, it stutters like hell, can't even walk properly without my guys acting like they're on low battery or smth. And tbh, I can run games more demanding than this one on Ultra graphs with no problems whatsoever, I don't think it's my PC

I'd say to dump the mod. I play on an i7 with a GTX 1050 Ti, unmodded, with no lag or stutters (except for the occasional zone-threshold hiccup).

Yeah, I have an i5-7500 3.4Ghz Quad, 16GB Ram, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 2G and three monitors. I can run it on high across all three with over 40fps and if i can do that then you should be able to run it just fine on even ultra.

What windows edition and version are you running?
You can find this by going to "About this PC" in settings or the search
For example (mine): Windows 10 Home, Version 1803, OS Build 17134.885
Then i can see if i can replicate the issue and find a solution or possible causes

PS. I've disabled windows updates on my pc because of issues they can cause just like this

Well when your live streaming, recording, talking on discord, using ts, playing a fullscreen game
& more at the same time it tends to get a bit annoying on one single monitor plus im on a desktop pc not a laptop and i had the monitors spare (and still have 2 more) so i decided to use them instead of leaving them to collect dust.

Two monitors should do the trick. Are you using ts and discord at the same time? Can't you use one?

So, I got Windows 10 Pro, Version 1903, OS build 18362.267

I've heard issues about that version and my laptop even runs it and has issues playing some games like Far Cry 4 (Cant even get 3fps), COD, BF, etc

You might want to rollback your version, You might be able to do so by going to Recovery Options (via windows search) then if your lucky you will see "Go back to the previous version of Windows 10", Click "Get Started" then so fourth, This should only effect whats in the system files (eg C:/Windows/) and will leave everything else how it was, you wont lose any files, any saves, any programs, etc.

If you don't want to do that then you can try verifying the files, reinstalling the game, reinstalling/fixing dependencies, etc. If you want help with either of these then just let me know.

Good luck :cchearts:

I'm not going to continue on and on with this convo but in simple

Left:
Discord & TS (Discord for Text chat, images, files, updates and so fourth, TS for Arma2,Arma3 & DayZ Comms)
(Sometimes even server software)

Middle:
Game & Steam

Right:
Streamlabs OBS (Streaming VID/AUDIO), OBS (Recording Vid), Audacity (Recording Mic Audio)

Everyone on the right one must be open and visible else you wont notice if one stops working or recording and trust me, that sucks bad when you have really good clips but no audio or anything or maybe just audio and no video.

I prefer it layed out easy to see and understand not everything cramped onto one single screen or such
