Zombie Survival Resource-Management Base-Building games similar to State of Decay?
Besides SoD 2, are there any like this game? in terms of the whole basebuilding survival and etc? or is this game really in a league of its own?

I'm pretty sure this game is kinda special. Yet to see any ones that are like this while still being good.

heck man, the *closest* i've ever gotten were 2D games, Project Zomboid and Rebuild 3. Both of them have their own jank and frustrations. But neither of them have the level of depth state of decay has

I was going to make one some years ago but I'm a lazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and modding was too much fun, so I shelved it indefinitely. Problem with these kinds of games is that general public are popcorn herpderpers and remotely complex genuinely challenging sim games just don't have an audience so investing thousands of hours into making a game that will move 10-20k copies max is pointless. You either have to add some normie selling points like pron or get funding and marketing from a publisher but these days you will most likely end up like No Man's Sky or Endless Space 2 that will use you like a ho and try to shove your game into every throat for an extra buck if you're lucky and have 5$ helicopter supply delivery MTX if you're not.
Fort Zombie
really old and buggy game. If you look at it, in some way, it was the precursor of State of Decay

Too bad they never opened this up for community modding.

There are a lot of cool mods for SOD. I don't use any apart from my own character mods, but there's definitely a lot to check out from what I've heard.

A lot of game resources are xml text files packed into CryEngine bmd files. There are utilities to unpack them and pack them back so you can change a lot of things like firearm damage, character stats, spawn rates, events, missions etc.
