That said, if you're looking for deep story, you might want to start a different game rather than moving into the sandbox where it's really just "do what you want to do and see how long you can make it".
Because the survivors in your community have random names and appearances and after the introduction basically everyone but Lily could die, they did not include anyone else in the ending.
State of Decay 2 is going to be a full release title with no such restriction on resources. Hopefully it'll have a more fleshed out story mode.
Since SoD2 is going to be a full release, we can probably expect a lot more depth from the story... I hope.
:/
How would you get that idea? Their goal was to blow the wall, not leave right then and there.
Think about it. If they actually left, Lilly would be leaving her brother behind, potentially Sam, Marcus, Maya and other named story characters, considering that everybody with a maximum trust level is considered one of the group leaders. That's obviously not what happened.
Also not much you can do for a scripted zed fight in a game with no other stated enemies or resources to create more, other than script the hard special infected (juggernauts and ferals) to come in. Which they did. A lot of them.
So, :/
This is a pretty average ending, if you've been playing games since the stone ages or whatever I'm sure this can't be the worst (especially considering you probably got it wrong).
Breakdown isnt bad. Its cool because you feel like you get more choice in survivors. It just gets really boring though. Its all the same side mission content you already did. Just over and over. This was a fun game but could be improved in many areas.
