Game data loss meant to happen with update?

I went to check the new update, and was caught off guard when I went to log in, and found myself in the middle of nowhere and everything I had owned, was gone. Was this meant to happen?

Although we're currently not supporting save games on updates I'm surprised everything was changed. That's odd because I would expect that it would just crash when attempting to load a saved game. That's weird! Have you run into anything else on the update?

My character was stripped bare of everything. I havent had time to play again. I do have a backup so might copy the save data over and see if it works.

My pcs infected with some stupid virus and I havent gotten around to fixing it. Doing so takes 6 hours because its also a game server and restoring the OS from image isnt the issue, its more of going into each data section and backing them up manually, then once I restore OS, restore the data files so no one loses anything. Thing is, I always always miss something and have to restore an image of entire system and get what I missed then try again.
Anyways, with all that, I finally got around to restoring my old game data and as you said, the game crashed moment I tried loading the data.
Btw, you definately need female character templates and hair colors like purple. I was thinking of seeing if I could tweak that as the game code looks simple enough to try, least it did when I first played this game back then.

Thanks for the suggestion on females! We were planning on releasing without but after reading this post and thinking about it we decided it wouldn't be too difficult to change. I don't want to promise anything, but right now the plan is to add females! Hair colors are going to change quite a bit too. More on that to come...

Thanks for the quick reply. My daughter also likes the game and likes making gothic looking characters. I forgot if you had later plans for multiplayer. If its a future option, might consider making an android version that people can transfer pc save via cloud and restore on phone to contine playing and visa versa. The code looks so much like android applications when opened up. Just a thought.

It's not too surprising that it looks like an android application. I'm using libgdx which is commonly used for android apps. :) The only issues with a port is user interface. touch instead of key commands opens a lot of questions.

Require a keyboard, which many tablets come with now a days, and can also be added to one without for as low as $6.00. I actually bought 4 lighted ones for myself and kids. Was suprised they were so cheap.

I really love the update, btw' will there be female characters?

Actually female characters is something we do hope to add. It's not 100% yet but we are planning on it right now!
