Thoughts on costumes, gold vs souls

Since the recent changes to costumes has made them a kind of gear unto themselves, ive been wondering for a bit now about this for the eventual time I get enough gems for an outfit. it may be some time as of yet, but this one pokes at me, and due to the ingame system for chatting being as it is I felt I could ask the community here.

Do you like the recent change to the costumes?
which is more valuable to you as a player, gold or souls?
beyond the obvious (the high end celestial, Dragon armors...), if your going for an outfit through play, what would you shoot for?

personally ive been leaning towards soul-centric armors, avoiding XP-related ones, and im unsure about gold. my build consists of my Hero, an Acolyte, Lady Sapphira and an Alchemist, so I have a lot of triggers for extra gold if it goes well. I don't know if gold bonus helps in my case, but leveling troops is a major concern ive seen in the forums, so thats why souls may be a focus for me. No real opinion about the change, as i started playing a little while ago.

Best 50 gem: Assasin, 50% souls
Best 100 gem: Viking, 50% gold, 25% souls
Best 250 gem: Lion, 75% exp, 50% souls. Spider 50% gold, 75% souls. Lion or Spider. Lion is best exp of any current armor and spider is best no exp farm of any armor.
Best 500 gem: Dragon 100% gold, 50% souls, 50% exp. Dragon, because dragon , but also because disenchant has no bonus souls. With gold, you can just contribute to guild tasks and get even more souls from the extra 50% gold through key/gem tasks than the 50% souls will do during match.

hmm. thats about what i was wagering. im having a time measuring between Assasin armor vs Viking, granted thisll just be from random gem gains. i had a feeling that was about right.

If you still have challenges to play in a city then having the soul bonus is great.

Instead of 170 souls per challenge you get 256 (Challenge Souls + Souls from each match and the game rounds up so you get an extra soul).

Well worth having, if you haven't got enough gems to buy the 50% armor then I would stop doing the challenges until you can get it.

Assasin would probably be better than viking. Put the extra 50 gems towards saving for a big costume or keys. The 100 gem armors are probably the worse and are worth skipping for either the 50 then the 250, or 50 then 500. Or just straight buy the 250 or 500 with cash.
