I just want to win. What are the best 4 troops in a team to make this happen?

That was quite a bump. But I'll add that the current best teams I come across and have tried out for myself are any combination of characters with True Shot on top with any combination of mass skull creators at the bottom.

My current team usually annihilates most opposing teams, when I play it, though the AI does not handle it a s well:

All 4 troops have traits
GLOOM LEAF (with all 3 traits)
THE SILENT ONE
CELESTRA
BONE DRAGON

I just got Black Beast, I've only played one game but he ended up with over 75 health at lvl 1...
My Lineup is Black Beast, Boar Rider, Goblin, Goblin Shaman. Because they are all the same kingdom, they all get +10 health, and they also get a bonus for having multiple marauders.
Edit: I took a screen shot of him at i think 60 life I didn't think to get one eariler when he had 75

My favorite team hands down: Kraken (x3) & Valkyrie. Both are fully traited. Matching 4-5 gems does 9 dmg to each enemy while adding life to Krakens. Target units that can scramble the board such as the Dragon Soul. I have no problem getting into Tier 1 PVP and I'm my guild's paragon with perfect record in guild wars each week. BTW, I'm looking for a better guild.

there is def. such thing as best teams.... teams that need 2-3 matches and they win. before you could do anything

1: Forest troll + Kraken + Kraken + Queen Mab
2: Krystenax + Dragon Soul + Dragonatur + dragon fo your choice
3: emperor korvash + valkyrie + kraken + queen mab
4: frostling+ frostling + valkyrie + queen mab

just play quild wars, you will see nothing but these teams.

Agreed, it's helpful to have a unit that acts as the engine for combos. Personally, I think the Valkyrie is best for that. If I had to make a second choice, it would be the Mantis.

In terms of what guild- I'm looking to compete and finish all guild tasks for a week. I changed guilds and I think I am back on track.

All must be fully traited, Lion banner

strategy:
1) first turn, find any purple and yellow together that can form 4 or 5 link together, cast Mercy (Divine Grace) (she has "Empowered" starting battle with full mana)
2) that will fill up valkyrie. Once Valkyrie filled up, start turning any color into blue (cast Valhalla) to find any match of 4 or 5 gems together, that will fill up Khorvash --> Mercy --> Plague
3) repeat the loop of endless 4 or 5 gems link (or manually match 4 or 5 gems together on the board) and Mercy-Valkyrie loop combo which will fire off Plague's last trait (i personally think Aspect of Plague is one of the most powerful traits in the game).
4) when you can't find any more 4 or 5 gems matches, cast Plague's spell (Outbreak)
5) enemies will be severely debilitated by the combo because of Aspect of Plague (you can start laughing at their stats (att, shield, hp and mana; they barely tickle you even if they manage to match skulls or cast some spells, dealing minimal damage to you)
6) enemies can hardly gain any mana to fuel their spells because of Outbreak (disease + poison)
7) cast Khorvash's Crown of Anu whenever you feel like you have to, or if you have nothing else to do

Traits and spells:
khorvash has damage reduction from skull 25%
khorvash will stun everyone (except if they have traits to block it)
Valkyrie has Water Link can easily fill up your whole team with the loop combo
Mercy has Cleanse and can give 18hp to whoever weakest and need it most (Khorvash being in the first spot usually gets the love from Mercy, Mercy will always keep khorvash alive) (Cleanse is extremely important spell because you will definitely want to get out of frustrations from Entangle, Queen Mab's frozen, stuns, Death Mark, just to name 4 most powerful negative buffs)

this team is extremely powerful and extremely fast (i played Gems of War ever since it was in still in Beta years ago, i tried countless teams, so please trust me)

One major weakness with this team:
--> always try to keep Khorvash alive. Once he is dead, you will start to feel the punch because he is the main attacking force of the team (Mercy, Valkyrie and Plague they don't have offensive spells)

P.S. Have i mentioned how OP Plague is? He is so underrated. i seriously rolled my eyes when i saw people complaining about how underwhelming Plague is. Yup, plague does not pack with a One-Hit-KO spell, but he is a very solid support unit. Definitely my favorite out of all Mythics available to this date. I have tons of mythics in my collection, but i love Plague the most.
