B-17 II Joystick Unmapper
Made quick small tool that allows you to unassign control axes as game doesn't allow delete axis definition and sometime make totally unwanted auto assignment.

Just copy to your game\Options dir next to your B17.opt file and run it from there. Then just click on control you want unassign. Then start B-17 and you can see desired control has axis unassigned. Very useful for all throttle auto assigements so you can just assing your throttle only to ALL ENGINES control.

If needed I can try add all joystick buttons.

Please backup your B17.opt first as this tool is just tested with my gog version game and your mileage can vary.

I do not get a B17.opt file created, so your usefull tool will not work for me. The files I do have are: EnglishUK, EnglishUS, French, German .opt files. In the GOG version I have, there is a B17.opt file, but not on my Steam version. I also noticed there is a "Game.exe" that shows up in the taskbar; something to to with hotkeys. Maybe this is interfering. A joystick buttons reset would also be very helpful. Any information on how you managed to read / access the .opt files would be very helpful; I am having a very hard time remapping button controls because when I try to use my Saitek X-55, any buttons I try to remap get set instantly to joystick 3 button 15; which is because there is a mode switch / dial on the throttle quadrant which is outputting buttons 15, 16, 17 when set to mode 1, 2, 3 and there is no way to disable it. Usually, joystick settings are in an .xml file that is easy to edit with something like notepad++, this (old) game does not have an easily accessable settings file. When I try to look at any of the .opt files with notepad++ or any other program, it just shows mostly unreadable characters. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Even being able to clear all of the button mappings would be a great help; then I could use the joystick programming software to output keystrokes for the desired operations.

Thank you so much for this, you saved my game! I have the Thrustmaster Hotas X which has a 5th axis at the back of the throttle, and the game kept autobinding all the engine throttles to that axis, so my actual throttle was useless. Just know that your work is still appreciated :hindsight:

I can't seem to get this to work. When I open the program I can select the axis which turn to red, but there is no "save/apply" button to change the settings.

Good Lord I got this working... for thrustmaster T.16000M, reset all config and config from scratch, will save you a lot of time.

Abaeza, I am having problems with my thrustmaster T16000M. I set the pitch to forward and backwards, the roll to left and right, and the yaw to twist left and twist right. Now I can't taxi because the program increases throttle when I use the joystick. I noticed when going back and looking at the controls that Axis 1 is set as default for throttle and there is no way to change it. Also, the manual buttons (B, N, L, . , X, etc,) do not work. How did you get your joystick to work and what can I do to fix this issue? I have the GOG game.

Also, I reinstalled the game from GOG so that the settings were back to default (no joystick). After getting outside the plane and testing the buttons, they all worked. However, after releasing the tail wheel and increasing throttle a little, the plane just goes straight. The buttons all work, as seen by the surfaces moving, but the plane does not turn using the B and N buttons for rudder.

Downloaded and used it. Worked great. Thanks!
