2 Black is the way to go in my opinion. The base game is better than 2 Sigma since it fixes the shop system, has some improved encounters by default, includes gore, etc., and the modding scene is going to be great for it since it's running on top of Sigma 2 so existing mods will seemingly be fairly easy to port. We already have releases to remove weapons from your back, improve performance, etc.
Also I have no idea why devs decided to throw so many dogs at you in 2 black, they are the most anti-fun enemy in the game.
Make sure the game is only running at 60fps and that you apply the DPI settings fix! Dogs are so easy to deal with, it's great, we should never change this game and nothing is wrong.
Do not play vanilla Sigma 2.
