What the frag is going on here?

Did I miss a cutscene where they explained the plot. I'm in a pawnshop, I'm a cop, my sister is missing. Now I am in a cloud covered world of hexagons, where I have to fight vampires. WTF?

I think you missed the dialog bit about there being more than one world and stuff. In one quick shot, the dude at the gun shop explains about this world, that world, and other worlds, and agents that go between the worlds... and stuff. It's so brief of an explanation that if you accidentally click twice on the "next" arrow, you literally lose the plot, which is already quite weak, and isn't helped by some interesting translation choices.

I just started playing last night after getting it in a bundle. I'm enjoying it well enough. Not nearly as bad as I expected it to be based on what I'd heard.

Totally. The game play is solid and there haven't been any crippling glitches. The gem smashing and leveling up is quite addictive. I just wish I could get into the story. If they could rework that part, I am sure the reviews would improve.

It's more than that. This game was a freemium (i.e. you PAY for all the gold stuff) then they just decided to drop gold every once in a while.

I'm at level 7 and it's turning into a real grind as your stuff breaks down and you're out looking for stuff to repair, which only adds to the stuff wearing out. I never have enough gems and it's taking like 10K EXP to level 8 and you get a trickle per battle...

That frustrated me at first, too, not getting hardly any gold, but I'm sort of liking the challenge of surviving with few inventory slots and almost no gold, and relying on drops and items that can be bought with silver.

It isn't ideal, of course, because I still have to look at a bunch of stuff in the game that I'm not ever going to be able to buy. They probably should have either changed more purchase options to silver, or changed some of the silver drop and sell mechanics to gold.
