What's the point of Radiance Pools?
I've been lpaying for hours and I haven't figured out what those things do. After a little searching on this forum I've read that they attract essence and mobs, and can level up villagers and mobs. Is that it? How close do mobs need to be to get exp from them? If that's all they do I'd just a soon not have them near my village.

If they are outside of your village they steal essence from your collectors and heal mobs.
Personally I try to destroy them as fast as I can.

Yep, that's all they do. The range is pretty close (roughly 6 tiles away).

They're actually on the chopping block though. I'll be either removing them from the game, or converting them into an entirely new object somewhat soon. :)

Why does it give us the option to rebuild some radiance pools then? What's the point?

Sort of one of those "because you can" situations. All buildings/structures are required to have an abandoned variant in the code, so I just threw them in for the hell of it. Technically the code is there for villagers to construct new ones as well, the button just doesn't exist anywhere in the GUI.

maybe you could convert them to something usefull, like a magical torch or something that attracts monsters within it's range so they don't attack your villagers / towers as much?

Or simply make them give their benefits to your villagers, healing and buffing their exp whenever the pool charges up fully.

I like this idea. It adds a bit of a difficulty option to it. You can build by a pool to gain it's positive effects, but then more monsters flock to it (and thus, your village.

It seems like they're still in the game a year later.
I just built a chain of fires out to them and then dismantled them.
