TRON 2.0

TRON 2.0

Please intert the TRON 2.0 Disc 1 into your drive
So what's the point of buying on Steam if I can't play it on Steam?

Install a virtual disc drive. Like this http://www.daemon-tools.cc/downloads and it will work

Install a virtual disc to what? I don't have the original media, it all should come from Steam. If it requires a third-party program then we have serisous issues

Hahah. Yeah, that program has a browser ad redirect malware in it you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

It's called SearchProtect. It's bundled with that daemon-tools crap. It redirects search queries through a third party instead of my chosen browser, inserts ads into web pages that didn't have ads before, and also, F you, you're a shill for an adware company because this did not resolve my issue but also gave me adware.

I would like to help you, but your language really annoys me. There are solutions in this forum, just go look for them yourself.

Pro-Tip: If you just click "Next" on every installer without reading, I can imagine what your computer looks like. You are the problem, not us.

Yes, I'm the problem. Multiple people are advocating adware-riddled solutions and I'm the bad guy. I agree.

That's all I have to write, because it's so simple.

I too believe that playing a video game should involve dodging malware bullets. Also, that dialogue isn't available in the most recent version of Daemon tools. If you have to craftily avoid infection to play then there's something seriously F'ed up about the game.

I downloaded the latest version from the official website. ;-)

I agree, Disney could've done more...

The free version is "Lite" and it's available here:

Sure, thanks anyway. I've had enough applications redirecting my searches and browsers to Travi.com and other BS. Come back when you have something that isn't an infected nest of malware.

OK, for this "Insert TRON 2.0 Disc 1" error. Here's what I've found.

The TRON.exe launcher that comes with the Steam version of the game is nearly identical in the way it behaves, to the old launcher that came with the Retail CD/DVD version.

There are only two differences. 1) It checks for a CD drive, but does not look for the copy protection on the CD. In other words, as long as a physical CD/DVD drive is present (even if there's no disc in it) the game will run. 2) If Steam is not running, it will cause the Steam client to load.

Since TRON.exe is looking for a CD/DVD drive, if it can't find one it just gives up.

These are MY PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS for a possible solution. I can't guarantee the following will work for everyone.

I decided to remove the two CD drives from the Device Manager on an old computer I have. Then I tried to access those drives. Sure enough, Windows reported that the drives were no longer there.

I tried running TRON.exe from the Unofficial Patch. Unlike the original TRON.exe, the one from the Unofficial Patch doesn't look for a CD/DVD drive at all. It just runs the game. At least, that's what it did for me.

So if you install the Unofficial Patch, it looks like the "Insert TRON 2.0 Disc 1" error might just go away.

There's some wierdness in the Steam client itself, but the game launches and I'm a step closer to whacking dudes inthe face with an energon frisbee. Thank you RedRain, this seems to have fixed the problem.

You seriously need to read what installers tell you and your options on opting out. Daemon Tools isn't the only "free" software that gains its revenue from bundling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with itself, but they have to make it skippable most of the time unless it's a scam-downloader, which Daemon Tools isn't.
