If it's happening when fighting DataWraith enemies, I'm afraid it's a bug that was never fixed. You'll need to save your game often on the levels that feature DataWraiths.
It could also be a sound issue. Sometimes when particular sound effects play on certain sound cards/chips, the game can crash.
If you completely disable the sound in the game launcher (Options > Place an X in the box beside both Disable Sound and Disable Music > Click OK), you'll know it's a sound problem if the crashing stops after disabling it.
Beyond that, I'm not immediately sure what else could be the issue.
Fortunately, I have saved my game often, so I haven't lost much progress. I'm nearly finished with the game now, actually.
Is the glitch with the DataWraiths only on the Steam version of Tron 2.0 or is it a problem for other versions of the game as well?
The Disc is v1.010, unless you patch it. GOG is v1.030, which can also be patched. Steam is the latest v1.042. But the last patch for the game didn't fix the crashing caused by DataWraiths. So it's also in every version number of the game.
I did fix some issues in the game via the Killer App Mod, and I'd like to try addressing more of them, including this DataWraith bug. But it will be a while before I try to tackle this one.
