On the chalkboard: Square root of 1,764
After playing through ABS, I had to whip out a calculator to see what the answer is.

...Oh, I feel kinda dumb for not expecting that. Should I have seen it coming a mile away? My nerd senses weren't tingling. Must be coming down with something...

...Actually this could fit in to the theme of ABS. Dad gum! The answer for the universe = cat. I thought it was pretty silly that their was a drawing of a cat on the board and the teacher even uses it again later in the game! Than it donned on me. The teacher must have a pet cat at home. A pet cat that is a source of comfort and belonging for the teacher. Just like the boy and the bird. Belonging being one of the potential themes of ABS. I'm sorry, I know I'm rambling but just hear me out here.
