Wormpot and mines that match team color are no comparison to the plethora of things that the patches bring to the table in W:A. If all you do is play local multiplayer, pretty much any Worms game will do.
Btw, you can play vs. AI team in W:A so I don't know what you're talking about there.
The reasons why W:A is considered the 'gold standard' of Worms games are plentiful -- even if you do not play online multiplayer. WWP is good, but the updates that W:A has received over the years make it preferable to me and pretty much all of the other old players, since everyone eventually abandoned WWP and went back to playing W:A. People wouldn't ditch a newer game for an older one unless there is good reason.
If I had a different opinion about it, I would surely pick Armageddon as the better game. But since I don't, I'm not choosing either. Armageddon has, as you said, many features, World Party has less. What I would say is they're the same game (which is true) wrapped in different packages (of course I don't mean cosmetic only). I agree that one is better in a vast majority of ways.
If I had met Armageddon before World Party, I would have likely preferred it. But since I have many memories with World Party, I like it as well. I'll possibly change my mind one if anything major is added to Armageddon (i.e. Wormpot). Until then I'll keep neutral.
The patch done by StepS.
The zoom in and out instant feature.
and
The forts mode in worm port.
WMD menus looks clumsy to me, gameplay is slow.
no offline custom map.
Everything is restricted in wmd where, wa and wwp is more about gaming, than trying to make u buy worm theme games over and over again..
