Worms W.M.D

Worms W.M.D

Better game: WMD vs. Armageddon
Which is the best game to play in 2016? I'm especially interested in quality of gameplay + online multiplayer population to match with quickly.

Here the best example why WA is better then WMD

Let's shelf 'subjectivity' for a bit and look at the facts... if you look at what the updates and mods offer W:A over WWP, it's clear that W:A offers way more potential, while still having virtually identical mechanics. If you only play local multiplayer, you're missing out on what I consider to be the best aspect of Worms.

Wormpot and mines that match team color are no comparison to the plethora of things that the patches bring to the table in W:A. If all you do is play local multiplayer, pretty much any Worms game will do.

Btw, you can play vs. AI team in W:A so I don't know what you're talking about there.

I also agree that I can't state that one Worms game is objectively the best, but it's not hard to argue why one SHOULD BE considered the best...

The reasons why W:A is considered the 'gold standard' of Worms games are plentiful -- even if you do not play online multiplayer. WWP is good, but the updates that W:A has received over the years make it preferable to me and pretty much all of the other old players, since everyone eventually abandoned WWP and went back to playing W:A. People wouldn't ditch a newer game for an older one unless there is good reason.

The extras that WWP offers over W:A are nothing in comparison to what W:A offers over WWP... unless maybe all you do is just play AI teams, which is a waste of time. For online multiplayer there is no comparison... W:A beats WWP easily.
I get it what you're trying to say. The updates over the years really did add much to the Armageddon experience. But I really can't agree about multiplayer. Yes, online mp is good, but when I think of Worms I think of local mp. Online adds many options and I like it, but local to me is the core of any Worms game. Of course anyone can disagree, but for me those really don't add much to the game.
If I had a different opinion about it, I would surely pick Armageddon as the better game. But since I don't, I'm not choosing either. Armageddon has, as you said, many features, World Party has less. What I would say is they're the same game (which is true) wrapped in different packages (of course I don't mean cosmetic only). I agree that one is better in a vast majority of ways.
If I had met Armageddon before World Party, I would have likely preferred it. But since I have many memories with World Party, I like it as well. I'll possibly change my mind one if anything major is added to Armageddon (i.e. Wormpot). Until then I'll keep neutral.
WMD. Armageddon is great, but WMD is just so much better with the vehicles, mounted guns and crafting. And the design of the worms themselves are so much better in WMD imo.
WWP has something i like that WA doesnt have.
The patch done by StepS.
The zoom in and out instant feature.
and
The forts mode in worm port.

WMD menus looks clumsy to me, gameplay is slow.
no offline custom map.
Everything is restricted in wmd where, wa and wwp is more about gaming, than trying to make u buy worm theme games over and over again..

FWIW, I'm liking W.M.D. more.
I really want to like WMD more than W:A (mostly because I paid €30), but it feels like all the programming was outsourced to junior programmers. Supporting 21:9 screens in a 2D game is not exactly rocket science and even that is broken!...I have my doubts that this game will ever be solid enough to become a classic :(
