ShellShock Live

Remove items from the game or remove the option to disable them
So, one thing is terribly off in this game. Aside from the 90% toxic community and kiddies, one of the main things that bugs me is the one half of the community who always turns off items, and the other half of the community having like 200 items of every type not getting rid of it. Let me kindly ask you something: What's the point of offering game content if you can't use the told game content? This is kinda like giving players the opportunity to use a bow in an RPG but 80% of the players turn off "ranged weapons" in said game. It makes no sense and there is no point attempting to justify it's sense, because there simply is none.

Items have been a part of Shellshock Live ever since the flash version. Shellshock Live 2 more specifically. It didn't offer you the opportunity to disable Items, so items had a point to have. Did anybody complain? No. So why here?

So either remove items completely and convert them into random powerups appearing as boxes or gears, I don't care what of both, or remove the option and give us the opportunity to use Items whenever we feel like it. Again, before you comment, think about the Bow example.

If you like using items host a game with items on, if you don't like them host a game with them off. It only affects you if you let it. I don't really see it as that big of a deal, Let people play how they want to.

That still doesn't solve the problem of Items having barely any use then. Of course this a valid workaround. And I personally use it occasionally. But try getting people into a match nowadays that are both high level and that accept Items. It has become a task of impossibility.

Of course I understand the frustration towards Items. But all the time? Which is why I said either remove them completely, or remove the option. Otherwise Items are just like a banned weapon.

So basically you are angry because someone pulled the SHIELD card on you, but you are also angery because you don't play this game much, and you dont have enough of shields so you can use one too?????

This is a chill game, not a competetive counter strike GO, smh

It's true, this isn't an extremely competitive game. It's just for fun. Sometimes your enemy will get 4 x2s and you get blocked by a barrier every turn. My point is that you're gonna get some advantages sometimes and sometimes you'll be at a disadvantage, don't treat the game like CSGO or any other super competitive skill based game like 2000 Cannavaro said above me.

I knoooow, right? It's sad that I can't pull shields. Or anything else. I'm a huge crybaby who just wants... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do you even read what others are writing? Do you lack the ability to read altogether?

Here... Before you keep questioning how many items I have. My words are simple: either remove Items, or remove the option to DISABLE them. Because I want to get rid of my items. Jesus.

While I understand that most people play this casually and you can turn off or on items at your own digression. If it becomes almost impossible to get into a match with people at your current level, it isn't too much of a stretch that those items would start feeling useless and might indicate some kind of balance issue.

As for letting people play the game the way they want to, well, if you want to use items, which you might not be able to, because people of a similar level simply won't join your game... well that would get frustrating right? It begins to feel too obsolete and perhaps unrightly so in someone's perception. You're therefor, indirectly being restricted in your playstyle. Which gets damn frustrating I can tell you that.

It's an interesting thing to think about. And maybe, to you it isn't such a big deal, but it clearly is enough of an issue to warrant a post in OP's eyes. And personally, it's a legitimate enough criticism of one of the game's systems, even including some realistic solutions to the perceived problem.

I just state my opinion and a solid change suggestion. You guys are the ones who apparently get triggered by it. Otherwise you wouldn't comment like this. Or perhaps you are just scared that the tables might turn mid-match. ^^

Disclaimer: I love items. They're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious and make games far more amusing, from going "♥♥♥♥ acctractoids" in Rebound to trolling nubs in XP Farms (shield ♥♥♥♥). Personally I think they make the game more dynamic. So what if your intended target put up a shield, learn to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ adapt. It's the same as high level games putting on wind. Boo hoo you can't spam a ruler anymore, learn to adapt.

That said. Don't give a hoot if items are turned off in a match. It's an option setting. Your "What if bows are turned off but I have ranged stuff?" is moot. Look at most (older, when you didn't pay for the privilege of options) games and you'll see this exact option. Timesplitters had game modes excluding particular weapons or limiting to types, Unreal Tournament has always had insta-frag modes (completely wiping out 'better weapons'), Tribes had disc-only modes. I distinctly remember a game (dunno which) that gave options specifically removing bow weapons.

This isn't a new concept in the slightest. It's called a handicap, or varying play styles. If everyone uses bows the game gets boring, having the odd game cutting out bows and forcing people to use guns, grenades and wooden sticks makes it interesting.

Personally, I think the two key flaws here are A) 'ranking up' items does zip. If having a level 5 tracer gave you three sets of settings for ideal/interesting/tricky shots and level 5 shields protected a huge area then people would use them way more for those added perks. B) This game is played by a lot of people looking for easy wins so most games are no-wind/no-items. I don't mind those settings but it's basically easy/boring mode. It'd be more fun if Items at least were randomly applied, you had no say in the matter.
