Multiplayer Co-op - Please help.
Hey guys, and Dev.

I love the game so far, infact I got my friend into it as well and we are loving it. But we have a problem.

I cant seem to get MP Co-op to work. Both me and my mate have gotten our external IP's and copyed them into the game, but yet when we hit "Connect:" is says Connecting to bla bla bla bla. But then it just stop's and just hangs at the Menu screen, Infact last night I tryed to connect to his IP and it didnt work so I then tryed just to get into my game using the defult IP and it wouldent even let me into my game. We are having real trobble with this and I would love some help. Also if the Developer could streamline the MP co-op a little better by having a sever list so you can save your favorite IP's of friends etc.

But I don't know what the error is, because there is no error.....It just says its connecting, then nothing happens. I dont think there is anything wrong with our Ports. I just cant figure it out.

It seems to work ok on my end. How are you hosting the game? One person has to hit Create, and the other needs to Connect to his IP.

P.S. The "no error" part is actually a bug that I'm going to fix in the next update. There is an error, it just doesn't display it.

When the person creates a game, what IP should be in there box? and how do you host your game, these are the things I dont really know. I am not vary good at Networking

The IP is only used for connecting. Creating a game just starts up a local in-game server. You can also host a dedicated server by launching TNServer.exe. If you're on OSX or Linux, you need to do tha via mono (mono TNServer.exe).

To play multiplayer, have one player hit the Create/Continue button, and another player use Connect after entering the first player's IP. You can find your IP via websites like http://www.whatsmyip.org/

P.S. I'm going to add the ability to invite players via Steam in the near future. I just haven't gotten to the Steam integration yet. It'll be around the same time as achievements.

I've tried this but I have same problem here. It says Connecting and nothing happen. Is it firewall effects or something?

The actual error message not showing up is a bug that I've fixed, so you will see what's wrong in the next version. As to why you can't connect -- yes, firewall does affect it. TNet will automatically use UPnP if it's present, but not all routers support it, or have it enabled. Apple's routers use a different system, for example, meaning port 5127 needs to be opened manually.

Has anyone gotten this to work on a Mac? I want to host a Windward server but mono WWServer.exe doesn't seem to be fully working.

Its highly erratic and sometimes very inconsistent. 90% of the time I dont even have to start a sever and my buddies connect straight to me. 5% of the time I have to start a server, the remaining 5% of the time, cant connect via either method. One buddy has to always start a server. Another buddy we have had very limited success connecting to him and when we do its only using the server. My remaining buddy, we cant connect to him at all, ever, via any method.

My one buddy who starts a server and we join him, he connects to his own server via his actual ip. When Ihave to use that method I have to use the default 127.0.0.1. So again its very erratic and not consistent across the board with all players.

There really needs to be some unified work done on the networking aspect IMO. It should never be this hard.

Aren, these posts are popping up more frequently, its not just an isolated problem. Hell just among my small grroup of friends, 2 of the 5 of us are actually able to have freinds join. Thats not isolated.

Love the game, bought it back in October.. but definitely hoping for an easier way to play with my friends. Especially since I'm not super tech-savvy, making my own server (which I sorta' tried to do), doesn't pan out, hah! But that's my fault, I guess.

Okay guys. A friend and I have found a solution for those of you who haven't had anything else work!

The invited friend needs to be exited to desktop before receiving invite to play Windward.

When he is in the Windward main menu, the invite errors out. When he is at desktop, the invite brings him into game with ease.

Ok a friend of mine are having trouble with multiplayer and just want to play by ourselves. We tried the direct connect and even having the person exit out and get invited to play with fire shield on and off but it still won't let us connect.
