Larger Map Help

I want to play on the full map so I can have that epic game similar to what you get with Civ 5. However, when I paint the full map (as opposed to the default crossword puzzle generator), I am only able to choose one starting faction. When I mouse around the map there, there is only one level 0 zone.

I am hoping for a logical approach of the four corners being zero, working towards the center with increasing level difficulty.

Any suggestions?

I have made a couple of maps for myself as levelling/training maps. I did this by going into single player and editing the generated map using the 'edit' function. Once the map has been drawn and the difficulty set, I go to 'next' to place the faction starting points and adjust the levels of each region. Each faction start point should be level 0. Once that is finished I close it. I have had no issues with doing this. There is also an option of adjusting the starting stats of each faction (I'm guessing you already know all this though).

I prefer to play my maps on a private server rather than single player. I'm not sure if single player locks out the other factions once you have selected your starting faction. Playing on a private server keeps the starting zones for other factions open, since you may want to invite other players to play your map, or start another character using a different faction on the same map. There is a pinned post in Forums explaining how to set up a private server.

You can change the challenge of the zones on your map with the mouse wheel. You should be able to set any zone you want to be level zero. (Available when you use the edit function.

When you are prompted to place the starter factions, click on any zone and place it and it will make that zone 0 for that factions start point, and it will be 0 unless you change it by using the above posters suggestion by scrolling the mouse wheel.

how do you make a map bigger than the stndard 9*9 ?

You need to mod, dans. That said, I'm going to be adding support for choosing a world size some time this week.

make sure you have reputation of the factions at less than 100..or you cant place them (a mistake i made so I couldnt place anything)
Look at Marauders bigworld map, way more than 385 zones.
