Singleplayer worth it?

Based off several reviews I've read this game is all about the multiplayer. While I love Pirate Sandbox games (like Sid Meier's Pirates and the AC: Black Flag metagame) I must confess...

I hate multiplayer.

That's just a preference, I'd much rather play single player, and while I really want to get this game, every review glosses over singleplayer as if it's nothing more than a tutorial for single player. I'm aware of the grind and all which doesn't bother me but is playing this game single player only truly not worth it?

I'd be interested to hear more details. Is it just the grind that makes it less appealling or is there content locked to multiplayer only?

Single player for me is just too slow, but it has vast potential if you are willing to put the time into it. If you make a map well, grow your cities and towns it can be very fun, until you have complete control of the map and have grown every city to the maximum size. Single player for me was much more of a grind than multiplayer.

Multiplayer is very fun. I haven't been on every server but the main server (Beginner 1) has an amazing community of people who are very helpful. It's not a massive community of people like WoW or CS:GO who can be intense about the game, everyone is pretty chill. Windward has one of the best multiplayer systems and community I have seen.

The only piece of content that might require multiplayer is getting the newest ship (there is already a discussion on how to get it and how to track your progress). But this ship doesn't count towards your achievements, so you can still get all the achievements in single player.

It would be quite fun actually, I spent my first 50-ish "levels" on singleplayer before I decided to check out some multiplayer severs. Not that bad.

I would say there is a lot to be had wether single player or multiplayer and would suggest you try both I understand how some players hate multiplayer and sure it is due to how some games multiplayer communities make it unpleasant with bullying and sarcastic chat etc.
I would say Tasharens main server is unique as the atmosphere is very friendly - layed back - helpful and creative the main focus is fun and there is a very good Admin team in place to make that happen as well as one of the best player based communities I have ever seen in gaming.

Windward is meant to be played with friends it was part of the design but single player has it's charm as well it is one of those games that if you want to relax a bit and sail around quest a bit watch the seagulls - sink a few pirates - enjoy the music score - it delivers hours of fun.

If you want to meet up with some friends enjoy the company and comradeship go out and sink a LOT of pirates then the Tash server place to be.

Over 2000 hours invested in playing this game and I have enjoyed every single minute of them.
