What does the "support" stat do?

Been trying to google this but can't find info on it...help please :)

It improves the strength of AoE effects, the water barrel, and makes the timer for capturing towns and buildings faster, among other things.

Plus now I REALLY want to unlock that one ability that makes the fire barrel effect adhere to targets. :)
