Tips for getting Royal Brigantine and Brig of war?
I got Windward on GoG, but this forum seems more active.

I've looked into how ships are unlocked. If i understand correctly, for most ships, a higher TP level is better, except for Royal Brigantine and Brig of war, which have a max TP of 7, meaning that in a standard single player map they are only available in TP 6 sectors. It also seems i must level up my towns to at least 8 in order to get Hunt Captain quests, as regular pirates get no higher than Schooners in those sectors.

Is this correct? If so, any tips for getting these ships to spawn more(or getting that quest more often)? Should i just get as many towns in my map op to their max size as possible to get more chances of getting that quest? Will increasing the difficulty make any difference in this case? (not after better gear yet. I'll do that in a higher level sector when i hunt for the Corvette) Does it make any difference if i play Valiant instead of Sojourn ?(the faction description implies Valiant get more combat oriented quests than the other factions)

There are 17 ships in total.After the first 4 ships, you will need to get blueprints by sinking those kinds of ships.It could take 10 sinkings-10 is a certainty.....Yes, certain ships appear around certain levels....Corvettes for example around lvl 30, Ship Of The Line lvl 50, the flyers-Dragonfly and Flying Fortress, need lvl 100 up.You will need a size 10 town to see/ buy the higher tier ships...Valiant is the fighting faction, so slightly better for combat/xp.The best faction for trading [with good Diplo gear], is Consulate.....The only ship where you have a choice on purchase/quest is the Zeppelin, which is Support based.You will find a "Strange Diagram", which is the quest route for this....Need a Gallean to do this, and you will need to remember your start town.[Important].....My best advice is-hop onto Tasharen server if you can, join a group high lvl instance and get some great blueprints to save up for....You will also get lots of friendly help there too....Hope this helps a bit:meowric:

Hmm. So tier does not directly translate to TP then? Guess i'll have to google some more to find the exact TP for a specific tier.

I'm basing miself off of a table posted before in https://steamcommunity.com/app/326410/discussions/0/357288572124321747/

If at all possible, i like to unlock the ships the proper way, by myself in SP. Thanks for the advice though.

Royal Brigantine = 400
Stats
Defense = 2.5
Offense = 2
Support = 2.5
Mobility = 0.9
Speed = 1
cargo = 4
townSize = 5
minTier = 5 ( x 3 = 15 TP)
maxTier = 9 (x 3 = 27 TP)

Tier means you'll spot Royal Brigantines in those maps which require to have min. TP 15 and max. TP 27 to enter and gamble. You won't find the "RB" in maps below 15 and higher than 27.

And I could be wrong :)

Your player level:
TP divided by three. Maximum has 250.

Thanks! That is very useful to know. I was wondering why i eventually ran into those ships on a TP 16 map when i decided to try and update my equipment.

Anyway, i am currently only missing the Corvette and Royal Corvette from the ships up to SotL, having run a few combat instances.

Captains simply appear to use higher tier ships than regular pirates, but there appear to be no ships that regulars can't use so far. The defeat captain quest appears to be pure RNGesus, and can appear from size 5 towns onward.
