[How to] Play on LAN / IPX Fix
Delta Force Land Warrior LAN / IPX FIX
This Fix is ONLY for Windows Vista and newer versions of Windows!

If you have trouble trying to play this game on LAN and it gives you an error "Unable to initialize provider" here is why it gives you that error

Windows had IPX Protocol support for older games in Windows XP and older versions but when Windows Vista came it didn't have IPX Protocol anymore also Win7 didn't have it either. (More about this is on the Internet)
So here is a fix for it. (This Fix also works on Retail (CD) Version of the game!)

1. Download IPX Wrapper from Here[www.solemnwarning.net]
(It is a tool that allows you to host/join LAN servers on older games like Delta Force)
2. Move all the files from the .zip file to your DFLW directory
3. Double-click on directplay-win32.reg file if you have 32-Bit Windows and apply it. Or if you have 64-Bit windows double-click on directplay-win64.reg and Apply it.
(64-Bit users may have to apply both .reg files)
4. Run ipxconfig.exe and select your Network adapter from the list
5. Choose options you would like to use (Do NOT change anything if you dont know what those boxes mean) Thats why i recommend that you just select your Network Adapter from the list and click Apply and Ok!
6. Start DFLW and start hosting! Or join LAN server

How to Port Forward Delta Force Land Warrior[portforward.com]

Hope this Helps!
Feel free to correct something if im wrong

Also you dont need to port forward Tunngle.

Thank you for your answer. As I figured out later, I can play more than one map on cooperative mode but it takes really long time (around 5 minutes) for second player (we both play from same home) to join game. But at some of maps he can't connect even after 20 minutes. So it is really weird because the game is old and there is not that much to send via network I think.
Thats good news, I have the same problem. Can you tell me which maps work, and wich don't?
I don't realy feel like trying every map for 10 minutes :P

Multiplayer is alive and well, it just needs players. Go to this link and download the lobby patch for DFLW (make sure your game is fully updated!): http://novaworld.cc/ ... Start the game and go to Nowaworld games and you'll see a bunch of games available. You can see how many players are online here: http://novaworld.cc/lwlobby.php?lob=pub ... Maybe we can set a time to have a game? Post to this message board or e me at alipalix at gmail ... feeling very nostalgic!

I receive "Loading mission from server" whenever I try to connect to my friend's game in every Delta Force except the first, in which I used Internet instead of LAN/IPX and we connect using Direct IP, so that works.

LAN = Local Area Network = You and your friend are connected in the same modem. I tell this to everyone incase they dont know it, so dont get mad if u already knew this.

I'm not sure what is causing your problem because this guide only hadles IPX errors. But have you guys tried to port forward? Because the one hosting needs to have his/hers ports open otherwise nobody can connect to his/hers game.

We are connected in the same network. Regarding ports, I don't exactly know which one to open. :P The one defined in the IPXCONFIG.EXE?

No, you need to open Delta Force Land Warriors Port. Search the port from google

I have followed your instructions and yet I still received the error message "Unable to Initialize Provider" message. I am running Windows 7.
Doesn't seem like the program works at all.
Only want to host and play Delta Force 2 over my home LAN network.
Do you have any further suggestions?

If you have followed the instructions word to word then I'm afraid I don't know what else to do and it has been 6 years since I posted this so its kinda hard to tell what to do now :|

Thanks anyway. Disappointing that we fans of Delta Force are unable to play network games.
I was hopeful to share a multiplayer game with my kids but alas, it's not to be.
Guess I'll have to pull out all of my old, OLD (pre 2000) PC's to play it, on original equipment.
I'll have to hope someone can find a way we can use this old classic game but if I do find a way, I'll share it here for everyone.
