Have AI controlled factions the ability to change their own religion?
As in the title, do other factions have the possibility to swap their religion (except through subjugation by an invader/conqueror which seems pretty obvious)?

For instance, this game is set in a time where Christianity had just started spreading outside the Roman Empire, and many factions should convert over the years to be historically accurate.

An example could be provided with the Visigoths, for Wikipedia mentions:"The Gothic tribes converted to Christianity sometime between 376 and 390 CE as a response to social pressure caused by the invading Huns, among a diverse list of causes." In TW: Attila, the Visigoths start as germanic pagans, but should convert within a decade.

I know for sure some factions, like the Franks or the Langobards, won't fully convert before the 7th century, so it is unlikely we'll see Christianity taking over Europe in the game's timeline, but still a few should automatically turn christian through some event or whatever.

P.S. I don't care about making a crusade through the continent to spread the Christiandom, I rather want more christian factions on which I can unleash the "The Fury of our Maker's hand" power/bonus.

The AI can change religion. But only will when the threshold is passed.

Latin christianity can spread quite quick I noticed, particulary if the WRE survives for any length of time.

I have seen several barbarians changing to Latin Christianity. And in the east sometimes factions change to the Sassanid religion. During my ERE campaign some factions became Greek Christian.
It definitely happens, but only to small factions next to big empires.

Noticed that too, in my own faction. Whilst celtic paganism or christianity (don't recall clearly) an arian christianity are decreasing badly, latin christianity has that green 2-arrows symbol. I had to proclaim a religious edict to prevent their further spread.

Have any idea on what could be the developer's rationale on this? The germanic tribes of that time were barely touched by latin christians (catholics I guess), the were instead converted to arian christianity over time and a few turned catholic a bunch of centuries later.

As I get -1 order from immigrants it could mean I have refugees or something from the WRE, which makes absolutely no sense if you consider no roman citizen would ever leave the empire (even if crumbling) to travel to central germania and start spreading his/her cult. It makes no sense at all to me.
