Give them a starting advantage and be done with it. No reason to constantly give them free stacks of end-game troops every 5 turns.
I've even faced Attila and defeated him but the animation showed him run away rather than get killed which is total bullsh*t.
Then again in all my games Attila just makes most of the east one big deserted warzone and just plays by himself which is not only awesome in my opinion but kind of funny. Just let the children play in the brown zones till they die of old age-Attila. lmao
Out of nowhere, this huge horde of seemingly half-horse demons turns up in the east and storms across Europe. Since we, using the magic of heinsight, know that they appeared, something had to be in place to replicate the shock. So they're insanely powerful.
Like cower in the corners of maps, use one s hitty ranged units to bait their onagers into firing all their ammunition before you close, etc, for once these tactics I've used in TW games don't even feel like cheating/won me the day for my Baktrian campaign agaisnt the Sycthians as well.
Shore up on pikemen, ranged units, and cavalry above everything else. Two things will slaughter you on the battle field, their melee charge(pike men) and their ranged units (mix of defensive ranged and cavalry to counter I found works best) if you're not ready.
Attila you either have to defeat/literally kill twice for him to be removed(think if you're playing as the huns and just lost him in an ambush or some BS right, kinda borked for players of that faction.) or wait until he dies of old age(I cant confirm, but I didn't kill him in my campaign, I just got the broken bow thing randomly show up). Trying to confirm it now, but from few posts I've seen on the matter after he dies thats it, the tide turns and you can drive the ♥♥♥♥♥ out/no more unfair Adeptus Astartes Hun stacks on the east spawning...I really really hope, or else yes they are WAY too overpowered if they keep coming even after Attila.
Theres a really good point to this though, and while I won't argue they are extremely difficult to deal with even on normal; I'm kinda happy CA put a faction in one their games that...actually challenges me(without the cheating on higher difficulties). If they didn't have the overpowered units, stack regening etc, theres no way the huns could stand for a nano second in a Total War map with EVERY faction at war with them. Unfortunalty these boons the devs gave the faction are most likely the product of a lot of beta testing, etc to get them to a reasonably powerful state without making them completely unbeatable.
Final note to help, thing I noticed is there greatest weakness is that they rarely have a chance to reinfornce their units, so over time their hordes get pretty decimated/easy to night attack/overwhelm on the map, and this plays hand in hand with the Geats and our winter immunity.
This is another mod I have made.

No bonus stacks of troops after major events in the "story".
Basically, the Huns only have the 3 starting stacks of troops and no bonus armies from events.
They'd be a normal balanced faction yet still powerful with their starting advantage.
That's how it should be yet the devs made them into some kind of invincible faction just because the game is named after Attila.
Honestly, I'd like to see what a "No Huns" mod game would look like. The game would be much more interesting and challenging.
Nice, I'm looking forward to it!
If you aren't able to then would you be able to disable the Huns from the game?
I'm afraid I can't find the data for this but I have just made this ...
