Can't sustain my troops?
So I get why I lose troops to the elements and such, but now, with no such exposures, and plenty of moolah in the account, I keep gettting the message that I can't sustain them so they are deserting.

Do they emotionally sustaining? Confidence building. Chicken wings and Mead with the War Chief?

HELP! This is screwing my game royale!

it would be your global food, a recommendation make every port you own a fishing port because they dont get effected by weather changes. and "food markets" bring in both food and cash and are also not effected by weather changes. you have a global food meter, i went from +1300 food to -400 food for 12 turns because my entire empire was infertil for 12 turns i lost every army.

keep global food around 800, that should cater for emergencies. unless you get my problem.

that would be your food.

to the guy that posted 1st, sure you could put a fishing port in every coastal town you own but then your missing out on trade ports and military ports not really worth it also if hes a barbain faction then the sanatation building line gives bonus food so he could build alot of those

personally iv never found a need to have more then one military port at my capital, and trade ports? there are a dozen buildings that make you equal or more cash, there are very few buildings that bring in permanent food.

There are 4 things that you have to do to sustain a loyal troops:

1. Food - You must feed your troops. If your food capacity reaches below 0 then they will start deserting you (desertion attrition).
2. Money - You must pay your troops wages. If you won't pay for your troops upkeep they will start deserting you (desertion attrition).
3. Weather - Your troops must end their turn in a safe location. If you end your turn in a Desert, Winter, or Swamp without going to Fortification Stance then you will suffer attrition since your troops will be dying.
(Some factions can learn ability to be immune to some of these weather attritions, such as Sasanids can be immune to desert.)
4. Integrity - You must keep your troops integrity high. If it troops integrity is too low you could face revolt. Raise integrity by winning battles, getting integrity perks, or by decimating your troops (this option is above the force levelling tree).

Just as a point of interest, "goat herds" will produce food even on infertile land.

....rome has acess to the most fertile lands in the game (i think) so food shouldnt be a problem as long as you keep those lands well defended

WRE probably does, ERE is endlessly infertile, nearly every province every turn is meagre/infertile. it is next to a desert tho.

well i have every town with cattle herds tier 4 and a tier 4 food market in every city capital and every port is a tier 4 fishing jetty and i endlessly am on the brink of starving my entire empire goes infertile in super long chunks. i have lost all my 12 armies once the entire armies starved out, luckily it ended because i nearly lost every city. any permanent food for my game is required, and cattle herds arent permanent whenever they are infertile it says zero to everything. So far for ERE food markets/fishing jetty's is all i have found.

yeah they will always produce a base then the fertile level is added to it so I think it is 40 base then +10 for every fertile level, if it is infertile it will make 40 food still but the fertile level is 0 so no bonus, thats for a level two cattle feilds if I remember right.

just checked my empire is completely infertile yet again so it was easy yeh tier 4 = 70 food but you can only have one of them per city/town. iv gone from +3000 food to 800 luckily iv planned ahead.
ChibiFenrir Mar 31, 2015 @ 10:04am
yeah you combine it with the other one that gives the 2nd most base food, so two of each in one city plus the jetties and you should be good food wise
