Attila: Land Trade routes not working?
So I'm playing as the Geats and I've conquered a part of Britain, Northumberland to be exact. The Caledonians (or Scots, whatever) are literally the next connected territory to my city, but I can't establish a land trade route with them?

I've also conquered the town in Wales in order to set up a sea port as well, but I still cannot establish any trading on that island.

Furthermore, there are other examples where I can't set up Trade routes... the diplomacy screen simply says "you cannot establish a sea trade route to this factions capital"?

i dont think land trade route's exist at all, im playing ERE and Axum is a puppet state completely surrounded by my empire and it cant establist trade with me. I seriously think they removed land trade route's because im certain they dont work.

in one season a slow army can travel across 3 state's it seems trade people using horse and carts cant even travel across one state in that time.

There's definitely some land trading. I have a set up where my trade begins on sea, then crosses land to the nearest faction, but anything beyond that and it doesn't work...

Is there a direct route from the target's capital to yours? That's usually the problem if you can't get any trade going.

It doens't have to be... I noticed what the deal was earlier...
For any land trading, the recipient's territories must all be connected from port to capital. If there is another territory, allied or not, obstructing this, the route is disconnect and cannot be established.

So when I tried the trade in my previous post earlier, it wouldn't work as the port it was attempting to use was owned by the Saxons (despite me having a port further round the isle).

if they are allied with an enemy it some times stops you. i hate it when i take a vassal and they won't trade....

Mephiston... Not sure about Empire, but in Attila, the faction still needs a port to trade from. I thought the trade requirement may have something to do with the faction needing a market place at their capital (which may still be)... but managing to establish trade routes for me was more dependent on the faction having connected provinces leading up to their main sea settlement with a trading port.

Either way, if it's possible, give that faction one of your connected settlements, that has a port. you shouldn't have an issue with trading with him then.
